Chapter Fourteen - Chosen

“Hey,” Yunho called as he walked over to Jaejoong.  “How’s your back?”

“Better now,” Jaejoong pouted.  “But you can’t massage your own back.”

“I can do it for you,” Yunho offered.

“No, no, no,” Jaejoong quickly shook his head.  “I’ll take care of it my own, don’t worry about me.”

“Aw, don’t you believe me?” Yunho pouted back at him.

“As much as I want to, Yunho-yah, this is my spine we’re talking about.  I don’t want to risk being crippled for the rest of my life,” Jaejoong rolled his eyes.  “Oh, I should go now.”

“Go where?”

“To deliver those guys their lunches,” Jaejoong pointed at the small bag he was carrying.  “They didn’t get them earlier this morning, and they have practice so they can’t come get it themselves.”

“Ah,” Yunho mumbled.  “Yoochun?”

“Yeah,” Jaejoong confirmed.  “You want to come?”

“No, I can’t,” Yunho smiled a little.  “I have to go meet the rest of the basketball team members.  We’re having another practice soon.”

“Oh, okay,” Jaejoong nodded.  “Don’t slack off, alright?”

“Since when did I slack off?” Yunho laughed and patted Jaejoong’s head.  “Run along then.  Won’t want them to starve because of me now.”

Jaejoong stuck out his tongue at Yunho, and laughed before he ran off towards the music room.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Hey,” Jaejoong called as he walked into the music room.  “I didn’t interrupt anything, did I?”

“No, you didn’t,” Hechul said quickly as he put down his cello and rested his bow.  “You brought us our lunches?”

“Well, since no one else can, and you three are too lazy to go to the cafeteria to eat properly,” Jaejoong rolled his eyes.  “I’m not going to let you guys skip lunch for practice.”

“I know,” Heechul nodded and accepted his lunch.  He got down from the stool, and sat down on the floor, the other two quickly joining him.

“Why are you three practicing alone anyway?” Jaejoong asked as he opened his own lunch box.  “Are you like, performing solo or something?”

“Ah, no, no, what made you think so?” Shiwon waved his hand.  “We would still play along with the orchestra.”

“But there’s also a performance where we’d be the only ones who play,” Heechul added.  “The three of us, so it’s not really solo, technically.”

“Oh, I see,” Jaejoong nodded.  “What song?  Classical?”

“Not really.  We’ll be performing a Disney song, Beauty and the Beast.”

“Whee, that’s cool!” Jaejoong exclaimed as he clapped loudly.  “Are there any vocalists?”

“Aish, you’re almost nineteen now, and you’re still head over heels with Disney songs?” Heechul shook his head.  “Seriously Jae… Hakuna Matata isn’t really a… mature favorite song.”

Jaejoong stared at Heechul pointedly and pouted.  “I like Timon.”

The three fell down.

“And Pumba.”

They sweatdropped.

“Okay, I’ll shut up,” Jaejoong kept quiet as he shoved a mouthful of rice into his mouth.

“Actually, we don’t,” Shiwon admitted.  “It’s only the music.”

“Wah, that’s a waste,” Jaejoong commented.  “But I’ll be here to watch you guys practice whenever I can, then.  What other Disney songs can you play?”

Heechul sighed.  “No, Jae, we can’t play “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”.”

“You enjoy making me disappointed, don’t you?” Jaejoong accused.

“Whatever you want to believe,” Heechul shrugged, and grinned mischievously at him.  “But if you want to be our vocalist, we’ll try to play those songs.”

Jaejoong beamed.  “Hakuna matata,” he said, his voice slightly deep and raspy.  “What a wonderful phrase!”

The three fell down laughing.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Shiwon opened the door to the music room, and paused.

“It’s our problem free~ philosophy~ hakuna matata…”

He looked at the three strangely, and considered going outside to avoid the mentally challenged people inside.

“Hey!  Come in and join us!” Jaejoong waved at him and laughed, covering his mouth with his hand, trying to hide his reddish face as well.

“Let’s start from the third verse,” Yoochun suggested.

“Oh, I’ll start!” Jaejoong said.  “And oh, the shame!”

“He’s ashamed!” Heechul butted in.

“Thoughta changing my name!” Yoochun sang along.

“Oh, what’s in a name?” Jaejoong added, giggling slightly.

“And I got downhearted,” Shiwon finally decided to join in before Heechul whacked him with his bow.

“How did you feel?” Heechul asked, looking at Shiwon.

“Every time that I-“ Shiwon paused, and the two started whispering to each other.

“Hakuna matata!” the four sang together.  “What a wonderful phrase!”

“Hakuna matata!” Yoochun sang.  “Ain’t no passing craze!”

“It means no worries, for the rest of your days,” Jaejoong continued.

“It’s our problem free~ philosophy~ hakuna matata!”

They all laughed after they finished, and promptly froze when the someone cleared their throat behind them.

“Ah!  Mrs. Yun!” Yoochun greeted.  “Nice to see you here.  We’re having a short lunch break,” he said nervously, gesturing at the lunch boxes laid out on the floor.

“I can see that,” Mrs. Yun shook her head.  “I heard you guys… eh… singing along to a… Disney song.”

“He started it,” the three pointed at Jaejoong.

“Right, put all the blame on me,” Jaejoong pouted.

“No, no, don’t worry,” Mrs. Yun shook her head.  “In fact, I was thinking that you guys sing quite well, especially you, young man.  What is your name?”

“Me?” Jaejoong asked as he pointed at himself.  “I’m Kim Jaejoong from the Science stream.”

“Ah, Kim Jaejoong from the Science stream,” Mrs. Yun nodded.  “What do you say to becoming their vocalist?  They need one.”

“Eh?  What about the audition then?” Heechul asked in surprise.

“We’re not going to hold it.  It’s easier this way,” Mrs. Yun shrugged.  “So, what do you say?”

“Ah… I’m not sure,” Jaejoong shook his head.  “I’m already in the Chemistry club.  I don’t know if I can make the time.”

“That’s okay,” Mrs. Yun smiled at him.  “I’ll talk to your professor about it.  I’m sure it’s okay with him.  I’ve been friends with him for a long time.”

“Uh… if it’s okay,” Jaejoong nodded.

“Good,” Mrs. Yun beamed at them.  “I’ll go talk to your professor about it right now.  You guys can… uh… continue mimicking Timon, Pumba, and Simba.”

Mrs. Yun walked out of the music room, and the four looked at each other, and sighed.

“Hey,” Jaejoong started softly.  “What if we mimic Sebastian?”

End of Chapter Fourteen

Every time I write Mrs. Yun, I’d almost end up writing Yunho -_-;;; once, I typed Yuno.  The other time, I actually typed Mrs. Yunho -_-;;;;;;;;;;;;

Oh, and the deal with the Disney songs are totally random.  I was at a blank, and yeah…
