Summary: they never realized it, but deep inside, they have each other

Disclaimer: I don’t own anything

A/N: original plot bunny from annakas, who requested the fanfic in Dangerous Love to be actually written :D this is only my take on it, and so it is not true

I hope you enjoy this.  At first, I wanted to make the title “There is You”, but I don’t know if it’s grammatically correct, so we’ll have to bear with this :3

This is part of the “Starcrossed Universe”, when Yunjae first went out together :D it’s amazing how a one-shot I wrote because I was bored out of my mind could inspire me to write many other shots

Let me tell you one thing… when I was writing the scene that was actually there in DL, I was cracking up real bad, and grinning like an uber idiot, no matter how serious the scene was *whacks self*

You are Here

“Kim Jaejoong, this is Jung Yunho, and Jung Yunho, this is Kim Jaejoong.  The two of you are assigned as a pair under the best physician here, so try to get along.”

Yunho paused when he saw the man in front of him.  They were of the same age, but he was about a head taller than the other man.  He frowned slightly, and he knew Jaejoong must’ve sensed it because he sighed a little.

“Jaejoong,” Yunho said slowly.  “Aren’t you-“

“Yes I am,” Jaejoong nodded grimly.  “And aren’t you-“

“Yes I am,” Yunho replied simply.

The two stared at each other with something akin to contempt, then snorted and turned away, refusing to look at each other.  The nurse who was told to introduce them to each other looked at them in confusion, and wondered if they had telepathic abilities that enabled them to communicate without actually speaking.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“I’m a little lost about you two,” Donghae admitted as he sat with the two during lunch.  “I mean, you two look like you hate each other’s guts or something.”

Jaejoong looked at him pointedly.  “What’s your point?”

“No, it’s just… you look like it, but you don’t act like it,” Donghae shrugged, sipping his orange juice.  “You two are a good team.  Dr. Go said it himself.”

Jaejoong blinked, looked at Donghae, at Yunho, at his tray, and got up.  “I’m finished,” he sighed, taking his tray with him.  “See you back at the ward.”

“And the fact that you two always have lunch together doesn’t help, if at all,” Donghae added, tapping his chin.  “Really, what’s wrong with the two of you?”

“Nothing’s wrong,” Yunho shrugged.  “We’re just doing something to please others… at least that’s his case.”

“Others?  Who others?” Donghae lifted an eyebrow at him.

Yunho smiled a little at him.  “Personal matters.  You’re not supposed to know,” he stood up as well, taking his tray.  “I’ll see you back at the ward.  Need to check on him to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“How’s the patient in room 237?” Yunho asked a nurse who happened to pass by.  “Can you give me the results of the USG scan earlier?  Bring it to Dr. Go’s office, and give it to Dr. Kim if I’m not there.”

“Right away, Sir,” the nurse nodded and walked off.

Yunho continued to walk towards the small office at the end of the corridor.  It was small, but packed with stuff, mostly folders on files of the patients Dr. Go had taken care of.

“You’re here already,” Yunho commented when he saw Jaejoong flipping through a thick yellow folder.  “Looking for an old file again?” he asked.

“None of your business,” Jaejoong snapped, and closed the thick folder, moving onto another one that he had stacked beside him on the table.

“It’s easier if you can access the database,” Yunho commented, sitting on Dr. Go’s chair, and turning on the computer.  “All medical histories here are recorded there already.  Who do you want to look for?”

“I said, it’s none of your business!” Jaejoong shouted at him as he banged the folder on the wooden desk, nearly making it crack under the force.  “Why can’t you stay away from me!?”

Yunho paused, and looked at him calmly.  “Why would I?”

Jaejoong slumped onto the chair.  “Don’t you hate me?”

Yunho chuckled a little.  “This is Dr. Go’s office,” he said softly, typing something.  “Your father can’t come in here.  No one would know,” he added.

“But-“

“Kim Junsu, he’s been in the hospital because of typhoid and a broken bone after soccer practice a long time ago,” Yunho read out loud.  “No other data is available.  That’s what you’ve been searching for, right?”

Jaejoong’s eyes widened.  “How do you know?”

“Oh I can guess,” Yunho tapped the desk.  “He’s the one who always comes to visit you here on Saturday, right?  He looks like a nice person.”

“That’s because he is,” Jaejoong rolled his eyes.  He looked down at his feet, and mumbled, “Thank you.”

“Aren’t we partners?” Yunho asked simply.  “It’s only natural to help each other.”

“I guess so.  I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier,” Jaejoong bowed his head.

“Don’t worry,” Yunho shook his head.  “You were worried, I know.  What happened to him?”

“Temporary paralysis,” Jaejoong bit his lower lip.  “I guess… maybe it has something to do with his broken bone at that time.  I’m not sure though.”

“I will arrange for a meeting with Dr. Go,” Yunho offered.  “Can you ask him to make the time?”

“Of course,” Jaejoong nodded.

Yunho got up and walked towards the door, intent on finding said physician, but a tug on his sleeve stopped him.  He paused, and turned to look at Jaejoong who was still bowing.

“Thank you,” Jaejoong said softly.  “Not from a partner, but rather from a cousin of someone you’re trying to help.”

Yunho smiled, and patted his head.  “You’re welcome.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Don’t you think those two are cute?”

“Oh, you tell me!  I saw how Dr. Kim looked at Dr. Jung!”

“Isn’t it like when you’re crushing on someone?”

Giggles.

“No wonder they’re paired up together.  They’re adorable together!”

“Ah, ah, someone’s coming!”

Silence.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“You’re back,” a middle-aged man said sternly as he stood in the middle of the living room, a walking stick in his right hand.  “Took you long enough.”

“I’m sorry, Appa,” Jaejoong bowed at him.

“Where were you?”

“I was sorting out files,” Jaejoong answered hesitantly.  He knew what one wrong answer would cost him.

“Oh, were you?” the man asked sinisterly.  “Or were you spending time with that Jung Yunho?”

Jaejoong froze, and frowned.  “He is my partner, Appa.  I have to spend time with him, whether I want it or not.”

“I know that!”

Jaejoong flinched and covered his ears when he heard the sound of glasses cracking.  His father had hit the glass table with his walking stick.

“You think I wouldn’t know, don’t you, Jaejoong?” he asked cruelly, walking closer as Jaejoong took a step back.  “I heard those nurses gossiping about a certain Dr. Kim who’s crushing on a certain Dr. Jung,” he said.  “Who do you think they’re talking about, hm?”

“There are a lot of Dr. Kims,” Jaejoong frowned.  “There’s Dr. Kim Heechul, Dr. Kim Kibum-“

“Silence!”

Jaejoong covered his ears again, and ducked to avoid the walking stick that struck the wall behind him, leaving a dent there.

“I will let you go for now,” his father glared coldly at him.  “But next time, I won’t be so lenient.”

Jaejoong sat silently on the floor, watching his father walk away, carrying the metal stick with him.

“Don’t you think he likes you or anything.  He’s just acting nice to make you trust him, so that it would be easier to crush you later.”

And that night, Jaejoong wept, the first time in his life.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Jae?” Yunho looked up when he heard the creaking sound of the door opening.  He paused, and frowned.  “What happened?  Why were you crying?”

“This is… Dr. Go’s office, right?” Jaejoong asked, his voice shaky and hoarse.  He turned the lock, and the door clicked shut.  “No one else will be able to enter… right?”

“Jaejoong,” Yunho placed the file down on the desk, and walked over to him.  “What happened?  Did your father do something to you?  Did he hurt you?”

“No, no, he didn’t,” Jaejoong quickly shook his head.  He wished to keep all his personal matters to himself, because he didn’t want anyone to know what his family was really like.  Especially not to someone from a rivaling family.

“Then why did you cry?” Yunho frowned deeper.  “Tell me.  I promise you I won’t tell anyone.  No one at all.”

“Not even your parents?” Jaejoong cracked up slightly, holding onto Yunho’s hands.  “Promise?”

“Of course,” Yunho nodded.  “Why would I tell them anyway?”

“I-I didn’t really know what was wrong.  It seemed like my father heard a group of nurses gossiping about us,” Jaejoong sobbed softly.  “He got mad at me last night.”

“But he didn’t hurt you?” Yunho asked again, holding onto Jaejoong’s wrists.  “He didn’t hurt you, did he?”

“No,” Jaejoong shook his head.  “But Yunho…”

“What is it?”

“I think you should keep away from me,” Jaejoong said, looking up at Yunho.  “I don’t want to take risks.  I don’t want it to happen again.”

“You-“

“I’m sorry,” Jaejoong bowed at him, and quickly walked out of the office, increasing his pace by each passing second without actually running.

“Aish, that guy!” Yunho groaned as he banged his head to the wall near the door, and almost got hit when the door swung open, and Dr. Go walked inside.

“Hey, did something happen between you two?” Dr. Go asked as he looked at Yunho who was nursing his forehead.  “He was crying.”

“He was?” Yunho asked, a little taken aback.  He sighed deeply, and turned to look at Dr. Go.  “I think I have to leave now.”

“Go on, go on,” Dr. Go said as he waved his hand.  “After all, you have to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid, don’t you?”

Yunho grinned a little.  “You really are the best physician ever.”

“No need to flatter me now,” Dr. Go sipped his coffee.  “But I suggest you warn everyone in this place if you want to be safe.  Oh, I’ll do that for you.  For now, just go after him.”

“Thank you, Dr. Go,” Yunho bowed at him.  “Thank you very much.”

“Don’t worry,” Dr. Go nodded absently.  “I’m doing this for him too.  I know you can make him happy, and I want him to be happy.  He’s suffered enough.”

Yunho smiled at him, and bowed one last time before he rushed out of the room, slowing down every time someone warned him to not run inside the hospital.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Jaejoong-ah!” Yunho called as he ran to catch up with Jaejoong.  It was still their night shift, but Jaejoong ran off, and so did he.  Thankfully, Dr. Go didn’t mind.

“Let go of me!” Jaejoong shouted as he tried to push Yunho away.

“No!” Yunho shouted back, gripping onto Jaejoong’s arms.  “I will never let you go!”

“Why!?” Jaejoong screamed, tears started to form at the corners of his eyes.  “Your family hates mine!  Why can’t you leave me alone!?”

“Because I am not them!”

Jaejoong looked surprised at that, and Yunho took the chance to push him against the nearest vertical surface-which happened to be a telephone booth-and trapped him there, putting his hands on either side of Jaejoong’s head.

“Jaejoong-ah…” he said softly, sighing a little.  “Why can’t you understand my feelings?”

Jaejoong looked around nervously, gripping one of the bars on the door tightly.  He frowned, and looked up at Yunho.  “What-what do you mean?”

Yunho took Jaejoong’s hand in his, and slowly brought it close to his heart.  “You are here… inside me.”

“Yunho-yah…” Jaejoong stuttered slightly.  He felt tears prickling his eyes again, and he pulled Yunho into a tight hug, his face buried in Yunho’s clothes as he finally let go of his tears, letting them drench Yunho’s shirt and jacket.

“I will not let anyone hurt you,” Yunho whispered as he hugged Jaejoong back.  “No one at all.  Not even your own father.”

“But-“

“Dr. Go has told everyone to not talk about us when there are outsiders ever again,” Yunho said softly, looking at Jaejoong, and kissing his eyes.  “You don’t have to worry.”

“Thank you,” Jaejoong smiled at Yunho, and kissed his jaw.  “I like you too.”

Yunho grinned a little.  “I know,” he said, leaning down to kiss Jaejoong chastely.  “Because you’ve been in my heart for a long time, and you haven’t broken free yet.”

And You are Too

And then, the Yunjae couple were born…

I hope you enjoyed this :DD I tried writing this as dramatic as I could (not that dramatic, anyway, right?), and I’m very sorry for the crappy ending.  But if you (by any freak chance) did, please do leave a comment :DDDDD
