We’re Going Where!?

Most of my friends told me that the hardest thing to do in a relationship is learning how to communicate well with each other, to make it work.  I didn’t think of anything when I heard them complaining about their lovers who were ignorant, or snappy, or anything.  But now, as I faced the same problem myself…

I agree that it is the hardest thing to do.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“China!?” Jaejoong shrieked when he saw the tickets in his hand.  “I never agreed to this!” he added, pouting as he hit the cushion with his fist, trying to get his point across.

“I know,” Tae In nodded nonchalantly as she put a folded shirt in the bag they would bring with them.  “We’re going to expand our business there, and we can’t leave you alone here.”

“Why not?” Jaejoong whined.  “I can go to Junsu’s house!  Or Changmin’s!  Or even Yoochun’s!”

Yuhan suddenly plopped herself down on the couch beside him.  “Aish, be quiet, you!” she nudged him hard.  “I know you’re happy to see Yunho again!”

“Yunho?” Jaejoong asked, looking at her strangely.

“You didn’t know?” Yuhan frowned.  “He left to study in China last year!  Wah, what kind of fiancé are you!?”

“Aish, just because I forgot doesn’t mean I don’t care!” Jaejoong protested.  “And I don’t want to go to China because I can’t understand anything!”

“That’s okay,” Yuhan patted his back.  “You don’t have to say anything.  All you have to do is stay at home, or look pretty for the guests, and for Yunho.”

“Yah!”

Yuhan skipped out of the living room and ducked the cushion Jaejoong threw at her.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Ah, China,” Yuhan sighed as soon as they stepped out of the airport, and waited for their driver to pick them up.

Their family was a family of business people, and Yunho’s family was their partner.  They had quite a lot of restaurants open in a lot of countries, and they were going to expand their business to China, and it was going to be the launching the next day, so they had to be there.

“Shut up, you talk like an old man,” Jaejoong huffed as he brought his small duffel bag with him.

“And you act like an old man,” Yuhan shrugged, and moved out of the way when Jaejoong swung the bag at her.  “Hey now, don’t be violent-eh wait, I think I saw Yunho there.”

“Jae,” Tae In called.  “We’ll be going to inspect the restaurant first.  You’ll join us there tomorrow, but for now, you can go to our house and rest.”

Yes, they had a house in that city, because Tae In and Junja often came there to talk about the plans with investors from China.  They felt the need because they didn’t want to stay in hotels.

“Okay,” Jaejoong agreed, and followed Yuhan to the baggage claim area.

He knew it was sad, and that it was his fault, but he was the only one in his family who couldn’t speak Chinese.  His parents were fluent because they often come to China, and Yuhan was too because she used to stay in China before she went back to Japan-before she was adopted by his family.

“Jung xian sheng (Mr. Jung)!” Yuhan shouted as she waved at Yunho cheerfully, grinning widely as soon as the two of them stepped out into the outer part of the airport, and Yunho looked up from the newspaper he was reading.

“Kim xiao jie (Ms. Kim),” Yunho greeted, and smiled at her.  “Hao duo xiao shi mei ni, wo xiang ni le (so many hours not seeing you, I miss you),” he added with a small laugh.

“Bu yao shuo gei wo la (don’t say that to me),” Yuhan laughed.  “Shuo gei ni de wei hun fu (say that to your fiancé),” she said, winking at him.  “Oh, ta ting bu dong (he doesn’t understand).”

Jaejoong looked at them as if they were creatures from a different planet.  “Huh?” he asked when he felt the two staring at him almost expectantly.

Yuhan burst out laughing.  “See?” she asked.  “Well, I’ll leave you two lovebirds now then.  Take care of him for me,” she said, patting Jaejoong’s back.  “I’m going to visit a friend.”

“Zai jian (see you),” Yunho said at her, and she waved back as she walked out, carrying her small bag with her, but leaving her travel bag with the two.

“Come,” Yunho said as he took the bags, and dragged them along.

“Where are we going?” Jaejoong asked.

“Your house,” Yunho shrugged.  “Where else?”

“Oh,” Jaejoong mumbled.  “But this is my first time in China.”

Yunho turned to face him, and placed a hand on his head.  “We need to get the bags to your house first, Jae,” he said, ruffling his hair.  “Come on.”

“Okay,” Jaejoong agreed, and quickly followed Yunho as he walked into the parking area.  He watched as Yunho put the bags into the trunk (he was never allowed to do works that needed brute strength), and then got into the passenger seat.

“I have to go back to my campus later,” Yunho said as he sat on the driver seat.  “I only asked permission to go pick you up.  Don’t go anywhere.”

“Why not?” Jaejoong complained.

“Because you can’t speak Chinese,” Yunho pointed out flatly.  “You’ll get lost.  And your cell phone doesn’t work here.”

Jaejoong took out his cell phone to check, and it was true.  His provider apparently didn’t have an international network.

“But I’ll be bored,” Jaejoong said, almost pouting.

“Why don’t you go read or play something,” Yunho shrugged.  “I’ll let you use my laptop if you promise to not mess with anything.”

“Yah, what’s that supposed to mean!?  I don’t mess with things!”

“Just a warning,” Yunho said nonchalantly, and drove to the house, focusing on the road.

Jaejoong let out a loud humph, and looked out of the window.  Sometimes, although he knew he shouldn’t be, he felt jealous of Yuhan.  Maybe it was because she could speak Chinese?

He wasn’t sure, but he somehow had the feeling that Yunho was treating him differently.  He was nicer to Yuhan compared to him, and he always so cold.

“We’ve arrived,” Yunho said as he pulled over in front of a two-story house.  “My laptop is in my room.  Don’t touch anything else, and if there’s a blackout, call me with the home phone.”

“I’m not a kid,” Jaejoong protested.  “I know what to do,” he added, and quickly got out of the car, taking the luggage out of the trunk, and carrying them into the house.

Yunho watched him, and drove off as soon as Jaejoong stepped into the house.

“Aish, that guy,” Jaejoong complained.  “Could have helped me with the bags,” he added, and put them aside in the hallway.  “I’ll take care of them later.”

He then walked into Yunho’s room, and sat in his desk, turning the laptop on.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Wei (hello)?” Yunho greeted as he answered the call.

“Wei, Yunho ge, Jaejoong ge zai na li a (Hello, Yunho-oppa, where’s Jaejoong-oppa)?” Yuhan asked from the other line.

“Zai jia (at home).  Shen me la (what happened)?” Yunho asked back.

“Mei shi (nothing),” Yuhan answered.  “Wo zhi shi dan xin (I’m only worried).”

“Oh.  Ni zai na li (where are you)?”

“Wo peng you de jia (my friend’s house).”

“Wo zheng zai hui jia le (I’m now going home).  Ni bu yao dan xin (you don’t have to worry).”

“Hen hao (very well).  Bu yao wang ji bao zhong ta (don’t forget to take care of him).  Ta shi hen ben zhuo (he’s very clumsy).”

Yunho laughed.  “Hao (okay).  Zai jian (see you),” he said, and hung up.  He pulled over in front of the house, and parked his car in the garage before walking out, and into the house.

As soon as he stepped into the house, there was a blackout, and everything was pitch black.

“Jaejoong-ah!” Yunho called as he took out his cell phone, and used it as a make-shift flashlight.  He walked over to the breaker, and quickly turned the electricity on.

“Yunho?” Jaejoong called from upstairs.

Yunho quickly rushed up to his room.  He saw Jaejoong sitting in his desk, and was about to turn his laptop on.

“Don’t touch it!”

Jaejoong jumped back in surprise when Yunho suddenly shouted at it.

“Get away from it!”

Jaejoong frowned and quickly stood up.  “Fine!  You don’t have to yell!” he shouted back in anger, and stomped out.  “I really can’t stand you sometimes!”

Yunho looked at his laptop, and pressed the power button with a pen, waiting for it to load.  “Jae!” he walked out of the room, but Jaejoong was nowhere in sight.

“Aish, where did he go now!?” he asked himself in frustration.  “He can’t speak Chinese, and his cell phone isn’t working,” Yunho mused.  “What have I done?”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong sat in a café, gingerly stirring his cup of hot chocolate.  He was lucky he brought the changes he got when they bought something in the airport, and he had managed to order it without actually saying anything, just pointing at the menu, and showing up one finger.

“Where am I?” he asked to no one in particular as he looked around.  He had taken a bus right after he ran out of his house, and stopped when he reached a bus stop near a café.

He had tried asking people where he was, but most of them didn’t understand Korean, and couldn’t speak English-not that he could, but it was better than his Chinese.

He sighed and sipped his chocolate slowly, wondering what his parents and Yuhan were doing.  His mind drifted to Yunho, but he willed himself to think about something else right away.

“Ni hao, xiao jie (hello, Miss).  Ni shi dan du ma (are you by yourself)?”

Jaejoong looked up when he heard someone talking to him, and came face-to-face with a good-looking young man, probably his age.  He was smiling a little as he looked expectantly at him, waiting for an answer.

“Um… I-I don’t speak Chinese,” he tried, smiling weakly at him.

The man looked at him, and smiled a little.  “Oh, you’re not from here?”

Relief filled him at that instant.  Finally!  Someone who understood him.

“I am… Korea.  Uh… Korean… mm…” Jaejoong stuttered.

“You’re from Korea?” the man asked.  “I thought you’re Chinese.”

“No, no, me, Korea,” Jaejoong shook his head, and the man laughed.  “What funny?”

“You are,” the man said.  “By the way, I’m Shiwon, I live near here.  What’s your name?”

“Name?  Oh, me Kim Jaejoong.”

“Nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you too.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Ni zhao dao le ma (have you found him)?” Yuhan asked, a sense of urgency in her tone.

“Hai zhao bu dao (not yet),” Yunho said, regret lacing his tone.

“Ah… ru guo ni zhao dao le, gao su wo (if you find him, tell me).  Hao ma (okay)?”

“Hao (okay).”

Yunho sighed as he rested his head on the steering wheel.  “Jaejoong-ah…” he mumbled.  “Where are you?”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“So why are you here?” Shiwon asked as he sat in front of Jaejoong.

“Um… I… fight my fiancé,” Jaejoong said.  “I run away.”

“You ran away?” Shiwon asked, surprised.  “Won’t he be worried?”

“I not think so,” Jaejoong shook his head sadly.  “He like scold me.”

Shiwon nodded thoughtfully.  “Maybe that’s because he cared for you.  So, when are you going back?”

“I lost,” Jaejoong pouted.

“Lost?  Lost what?” Shiwon lifted an eyebrow.

“I lost,” Jaejoong repeated, pointing at himself.

“Oh, you mean you’re lost?” Shiwon asked, realization dawning onto him.  “Here, I’ll lend you my phone.”

“Thank you,” Jaejoong said as he accepted the phone, and dialed Yuhan’s number.

“Wei (hello)?”

“Yuhan,” Jaejoong called.

“Hyung!?” Yuhan shrieked and Jaejoong put the receiver away from his ears.  “Where are you!?  We were worried sick!”

“Uh… I’m somewhere… at a café…” Jaejoong mumbled.  “Wait,” he said, and turned to Shiwon.  “What’s this café name?”

“Lan Hua,” Shiwon answered.

“Lan Hua café,” Jaejoong said.  “And, you didn’t tell umma and appa, did you?”

“No,” Yuhan sighed.

“Then?  Who are we?” Jaejoong blinked.

“Of course Yunho-hyung!” Yuhan shouted, and Jaejoong was forced to put the receiver away from his ears again.  “Wait a minute,” she said.  “Okay, so, why did you run away in the first place?”

“I… I was pissed,” Jaejoong sighed.  “I guess I was just mad because Yunho shouted at me.”

“What happened?”

“I was just going to turn his laptop on!”

“Hyung…” Yuhan paused.  “Was there a blackout?”

“Huh?  How did you know?”

“Aish, he wasn’t angry at you!” Yuhan huffed.  “You two are unbelievable.”

“What!?  Why me too!?” Jaejoong protested.

“Let me clear this,” Yuhan sighed.  She was sure she’d die young if this kept up.  “Yunho-hyung didn’t want you to touch it.  Remember that one time he was hospitalized?”

“Uh… yes?”

“That was because he touched his laptop after a blackout,” Yuhan explained.  “He was electrocuted.  It had to be turned on, but with something that doesn’t conduct electricity.  He didn’t want to buy a new laptop, though.  That was why he didn’t want you to touch it.”

“But he’s always mean to me!”

“That,” Yuhan started, “is because he loves you.”

“Huh??  How can you be mean to someone you love!?”

“Aish, hyung,” Yuhan groaned.  “He doesn’t want to treat you like he treat his friends, because you’re more than a friend.  But he doesn’t know how to treat you properly either.  He has never been in love.  His last boyfriend was only someone who asked him out because they wanted to try dating.”

“How did you know?” Jaejoong asked, frowning.

“He told me.  He was stressed as well because of this.  He didn’t want you to think he hates you.”

Jaejoong fell silent.  “I’ll… I’ll apologize to him.”

“You better!  He’s driving around the town in search of you right now!”

“Don’t make me feel even guiltier!” Jaejoong pouted.  “Anyway, I’ll talk to you later.  This is not mine.”

He hung up, and returned the phone to Shiwon.

“Who did you call?” he asked.

“My sister,” Jaejoong smiled.

“By the way, I heard the name Yunho.  Is he, by any chance, Jung Yunho?” Shiwon asked slowly.

Jaejoong thought it over, and nodded.  “Why?”

Before Shiwon could answer, a voice interrupted them.

“Jaejoong-ah!”

Jaejoong turned around, and saw Yunho walking towards them.  “Where were you!?  I-“ he stopped when he saw the one sitting with him.  “Choi Shiwon.”

“Jung Yunho,” Shiwon said, smiling at him.  “Long time no see.”

Jaejoong looked at Shiwon in disbelief.  “You can speak Korean!?”

“He’s a Korean,” Yunho pointed out.

“Then why didn’t you say so!?” Jaejoong demanded.  “You-“

“Come, Jae,” Yunho said, tugging his hand.  “We’re going home.”

“Eh wait, I haven’t thanked him yet,” Jaejoong said.

“There’s no need to thank him,” Yunho gritted out, glaring at Shiwon.

Shiwon kept smiling at him.  “Why the hostility, hm?”

Yunho glared at him.  “What do you want?” he asked lowly.  “Don’t think because you could take Heechul away from me, you can do the same with Jae.”

“Huh?” Jaejoong looked at Yunho questioningly.

“I can’t believe you’re still bitter because of that,” Shiwon shook his head.  “If you’re really worried I’ll take your boyfriend away, then you should take better care of him.”

“Shut up,” Yunho snorted.  “I don’t need you to tell me anything.”

“Oh?  Explain why he was here, sitting alone, and complaining about you, then,” Shiwon challenged.

“Yun-“

“Be quiet,” Yunho didn’t even look down at Jaejoong.  “This is between me and him.”

“What?” Jaejoong frowned.

Shiwon laughed.  “That was the very attitude that made Heechul come to me,” he said, smirking a little.  “Maybe, one day, he would as well.”

Yunho punched Shiwon on the face, and the whole café became chaotic in an instant.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong sighed deeply as he dipped the small white towel into a bowl of cool water, and wringed it dry.  He dabbed it at Yunho’s bruised cheek, eliciting a loud “ouch” from him.

“Shut up,” Jaejoong huffed.  “You shouldn’t have fought with him.”

“He was the one who asked for it,” Yunho snorted, and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Jaejoong shook his head.  “Men…”

“You’re a man too,” Yunho pointed out, and Jaejoong whacked him with a pillow.

“Shut up,” he repeated, glaring at Yunho.

“Why were you with him, anyway?” Yunho complained.

“Well, for your information, he was the first person who could understand me!” Jaejoong shouted back.  “And he was why I could contact Yuhan, so shut up.”

Yunho shut up, and glared at the bed cover.

“Hyung?” Yuhan asked as she walked into the room.

“Hello,” Jaejoong greeted as he continued taking care of Yunho’s bruises.

Yuhan sighed in defeat.  “I really can’t believe you two.  Anyway, you should sleep early today.  The launching is tomorrow, so be prepared and at your best.”

“Okay,” Jaejoong nodded, and Yuhan left.

They sat in silence for a while, and then looked at each other.

“Yunho.”

“Jae.”

They stopped.

“You go first.”

They stopped again.

“I’m sorry.”

They looked at each other, and burst out laughing.

“I’m sorry,” Jaejoong repeated, smiling a little.  “I shouldn’t have gotten mad at you and run away like that.”

“And I shouldn’t have shouted at you,” Yunho said.  “I’m sorry for treating you so badly.”

“That’s okay,” Jaejoong shook his head.  “Yuhan told me everything.”

“What!?” Yunho nearly screamed.  “That was a secret!  Kim Yuhan!”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“You look nice,” Jaejoong complimented as he dusted Yunho’s suit, and fixed the collar.

“So do you,” Yunho said, looking down at Jaejoong who was also wearing a suit.

“Thank you,” Jaejoong smiled at him.  “Let’s go.  They’re waiting.”

The two quickly got down and into Yunho’s car.  Jaejoong’s parents and Yuhan had gone off first to let them get ready.

“I hope it goes well,” Jaejoong sighed as he leaned back in his seat.

“I’m sure it will,” Yunho said, starting the engine.  “Just don’t do anything, and smile.”

“Yah!  I’m not a mannequin!”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“I’m glad the launching is a success!” Yuhan commented happily as she took off her suit and tie.  “Now, we’re going back to Korea!”

“Already?” Jaejoong asked, looking up from the magazine he was reading.

“Yah hyung, weren’t you listening when umma told us?” Yuhan teased.  “Or are you just eager to spend more time with Yunho-hyung?”

“That’s none of your business,” Jaejoong snorted and looked down, trying to hide his blush.

“Anyway,” Yuhan started.  “Yes, we’re going home already.  Aren’t you glad though?  I thought you don’t want to stay here because you can’t speak Chinese.”

Jaejoong shrugged.  “I guess.  When are we leaving?”

“Tonight,” Yuhan said.  “You better start packing now.”

“Okay,” Jaejoong agreed, and went to his room.

He saw Yunho standing in front of his room, and walked up to him.  “What is it?”

“I heard you’re going back to Korea tonight,” Yunho said.  “I’m… I’m sorry, for always being a jerk to you.”

“I thought I told you it’s okay?”

“I know, I’m not finished, don’t interrupt me.”

“Oh, okay.”

“I… I want to start anew, if you don’t mind.  I promise I’ll treat you better.  The way you deserve to be,” he said.  “And…”

“Yes?”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Hyung!  Come on, we have to board the plane in fifteen minutes!” Yuhan called as she waved at Jaejoong.

“Coming!” Jaejoong rushed towards her, and walked into the waiting room, waiting for their plane to land.

Once they were in the plane, ready to take off, his mind wandered, and a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

He promised himself he’d learn Chinese, and one day return to China.  Of course, if Yunho hadn’t beaten him yet.

“When we meet again, I will marry you.  I love you, Kim Jaejoong.”

Goodbye China

I’m sorry if the Chinese used are incorrect in any way.  I tried using a translator, but it ended up strange, so I racked my brain for any Chinese words I knew (I did learn Chinese for a long time, but I’m still better at my dialect >_<)

And as to why Yuhan called them -hyung instead of -oppa, it was because she was from Japan.  In Japan, girls could address others or themselves with the masculine term, and she did :3

This should’ve been longer, but… oh well…

Here goes the NG!  Last NG was inspired by my own experience when I went to China.  We forgot to go do that until we were at the airport, waiting for our plane -_-;;;
