A/N: another update from me XDD I don’t have any assignments for the remainder of the week, so I’m pretty much free. I have to go with my friend because she wants to browse for clothes though.
This chapter is for lavenie_2619. Enjoy the two updates, dear ^______^
To underknight, I will still post Girlfriend up if I’ve finished writing it. I haven’t, though. I mean, yes, I’m aware that orionsroad has written a songfic based on Girlfriend (which is freaking funny, and I recommend you to read it XDD), and the main characters are exactly the same (the girlfriend is Seulgi -_-;;;), still, I believe that we both have different writing styles. But, if any of you don’t want me to write it (because… maybe it’s considered plagiarism?) then feel free to say so, and I won’t post it up ^____________^
Another note, this is when a major time skip happens XDD you might get confused at the time skip, but this story is quickly ending so I had to do this. Enjoy~
Chapter Twenty Two - Of Exams and Dinner Dates
Jaejoong sat on his bed, a thick Chemistry text book lied open on his lap as he crossed his legs Indian style, and looked up at his self-proclaimed boyfriend who was sitting on his own bed across from him, nose scrunching up in thought as his eyes frantically scanned through the pages yet understood nothing.
“Yunho-yah, you’re not going to understand anything if you keep scanning for nothing,” Jaejoong sighed as he flopped down on his belly and propped his chin up with his fist. “Now, return the page to chapter 16 and I’ll help you with those hydrocarbons,” he instructed, pointing at Yunho’s book.
“It’s not my fault I suck at Chemistry,” Yunho pouted as he flipped the book back to the mentioned chapter, which talked about most hydrocarbons, starting from alkanes, alkenes, and finally arenes.
“Right, we’ll start from the basic structure,” Jaejoong took his notebook and gave it to Yunho. “I expect you to know the basic formula of alkanes, and the skeletal formula. They have no double or triple bonds, and that’s why they’re called saturated. Also, they can only undergo substitution and not addition.”
Yunho stared. Then blinked.
“I figure you didn’t get that one. Let’s start over,” Jaejoong sighed tiredly. “Remember, you have a big Chemistry test tomorrow to prepare for our upcoming final exam, you still don’t understand mostly everything in the organic chemistry section, and it’s ten p.m., which is when I’m usually asleep.”
“Sorry,” Yunho said sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. “I’m trying…”
“I know,” Jaejoong threw him a smile. “Minnie has to tutor Yoochun and Junsu in Physics. Since I suck at Physics, I’ll do the Chemistry tutoring instead.”
“He told me that,” Yunho nodded. “Changmin’s quite smart, isn’t he?”
“Mmh,” Jaejoong mumbled as he nodded absently, running his eyes through the text. “Do you want to repeat the Introduction to Organic Chemistry first? Or should we just continue with the hydrocarbons?”
“We’ll just start from those carbon chains,” Yunho said, feeling tired himself, but he wanted to pass and graduate, and he didn’t want to let Jaejoong’s effort go to waste.
“Hydrocarbons, Yunnie, hydrocarbons,” Jaejoong chided as he shook his head. “Alright, we’ll review the alkanes once again, then move on to alkenes.”
“Okay,” Yunho agreed quickly, desperately wanting to get this over with and get some sleep. “Though, can I request something?”
“Yes? What is it?” Jaejoong asked, looking up from his book yet again. “Just don’t ask to sleep with Aya. I won’t let you.”
“No,” Yunho laughed. “I have Bambi now,” he added, pointing at said stuffed deer with a grin. “It’s just that…”
“What?”
“Could you limit the scientific terms to one per sentence?”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“How did your Physics test go?” Jaejoong asked as soon as he sat with the others in the canteen.
Junsu was laying his head on the table, greatly tempted to bang his head on the table while Yoochun had a goofy grin on his face.
“I take it you did well?” Jaejoong inquired as he looked suspiciously at Yoochun.
“Why, yes I did, thanks to Minnie here,” Yoochun said as he patted Changmin’s shoulder a little harshly, and Changmin glared at him after nearly choking.
“Jaejoong-shii~!” Junsu whined as he threw himself to Jaejoong and stuck like a leech to his arm. “Chunnie’s unfair! He dominated Minnie yesterday, and I didn’t get to learn anything!”
“Gah, and I really believed he didn’t get those!” Changmin muttered under his breath as he played with his noodles before shoving it inside his mouth.
“Something wrong?” Yunho asked as he joined them in the table, placing a tray in front of himself and another in front of Jaejoong. “Yoochun looked like he had just won a lottery.”
“No, but he did win a bet,” Junsu glared at him and huffed indignantly. “You cheated! I demand you to call off the bet!”
“And why would I do that?” Yoochun asked, the grin still on his face. “No one said you can’t do anything to help you win,” he shrugged nonchalantly.
“What did you two bet on?” Jaejoong asked, completely confused at the two’s exchange.
“We were deciding who’d do the laundry for a week,” Junsu whined again. “And he cheated! Can you believe it? He cheated!”
“Actually, Su, that is so believable,” Yunho commented, pulling his wooden chopsticks apart and started eating.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Yoochun asked with a mock glare directed towards Yunho. “I don’t always cheat!”
“Yes, but you do cheat often,” Yunho commented offhandedly. “Now, eat your lunches, before Changmin decided to eat them for you,” he added, pointing at Changmin’s hand which had somehow sneaked towards Yoochun’s bowl, ready to take the food inside.
“Aw, Yunho-hyung, why did you do that?” it was time for Changmin to protest now as his great plan was ruined.
“Oh!” Jaejoong exclaimed suddenly and Junsu nearly fell off the chair. “How did you do, Yunho-yah?” he asked, turning his attention to the boy sitting beside him.
Yunho nearly choked, and he forced a weak smile. “Well…” his lip twitched uncontrollably as he tried hard to smile, but it turned out to be more of a nervous smile.
“You…” Jaejoong trailed off. “Wait, let me think of what I want to say,” he added, and the three others sweatdropped while Yunho was silently praising whatever deities were up there for their help.
“I swear I didn’t do badly!” Yunho stated in panic as he held up his hands, as if surrendering. “Well, not well is not bad yet…” he added in his mind.
“I told you not to get distracted!” Jaejoong pouted, crossing his arms and dragging Junsu-who was still clinging to his arm like a leech-with it. “Now see what you get.”
“Aw, but that was too much of a distraction!” Yunho whined too now as he clung to Jaejoong’s other arm.
“Oi! I’m short enough! Are you guys trying to make me even shorter!?” Jaejoong protested as he tried to shake off the two who stubbornly clung to him and pulled him down.
“What made him distracted?” Yoochun asked finally, his curiosity getting the best of his want to laugh at Jaejoong’s so-called predicament.
Yunho blushed slightly as Jaejoong stifled a laughter. Yoochun concluded that it wasn’t anything lewd since Jaejoong laughed at it.
“One of those mechanical puzzles, do you know?” Jaejoong asked. “I bought one last week, and he’s been fascinated with it. Last night he ended up getting his finger stuck between the metal bars, and we spent a good thirty minutes trying to get it out.”
“You promised not to tell!” Yunho protested as he was blushing even more.
“It’s Yoochun,” Jaejoong shrugged. “It won’t get out of this circle, that’s what I promised yesterday.”
“Really?” Yunho asked, blinking his eyes at him.
“Urh, no, actually, I was bending the truth a little,” Jaejoong smiled uneasily. He wanted to scratch the back of his neck, but it was proved impossible as the two still stuck to his arms.
“You’re mean!” Yunho protested as he let go of Jaejoong’s arm and pouted.
Yoominsu laughed but retreated back as well, watching them from their seats.
“Aw, Yunnie, you know I can never be mean to you,” Jaejoong pleaded as he tugged at Yunho’s sleeve.
“You told them that embarrassing moment,” Yunho pointed out.
“You didn’t stop me,” Jaejoong countered.
“You’re being mean again~!”
“Yunho-yah!” Jaejoong was close to whining too, and the Yoominsu looked in amusement. They’d never seen the two oldest like this-well, Yunho maybe, but certainly not Jaejoong-and it amused them to no end.
“Fine, make it up to me,” Yunho stated finally and Yoochun whispered something close to “That was his intention all along” to Junsu, which was pointedly ignored by Yunho who happened to hear it.
“How?” Jaejoong asked, not sure if he wanted to go along. Two months ago, Yunho had said the same thing and he ended up wearing a pink frilly dress, complete with all-pink accessories, to one of the school’s party.
“Go out with me tonight,” he stated firmly. “Tomorrow’s weekend so we should have no problem,” he mumbled more like to himself, then looked up again. “I’ll take care of everything. Just be ready at seven, and wear your nicest dress, Jaejoong-chan.”
Jaejoong blinked.
Junsu blinked.
Yoochun sighed.
Changmin snickered.
“Minnie-ah! What did you teach him!?”
“Sorry, umma, can’t help myself!”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“I’m so going to get Heechul for this!” Jaejoong snapped as he tried to sit still while Junsu fiddled with the various make up kits sprawled on the vanity table in the Yunjae room.
“Ah, so that’s the name of the friend who kindly packed for you,” Junsu noted as he took the blush on and started applying some to Jaejoong’s cheek. “Send him my regards sometimes,” he added.
“You said the exact same thing with Yunho,” Jaejoong sighed. “I don’t see how he got his hands on these… things,” he muttered as he eyed the make up kits hatefully.
Sure, he had a sister back at home, but he wasn’t really keen on trying her make up on himself.
“That means we’re appreciating his effort,” Junsu grinned widely and moved onto the eyeliner. “Consider yourself lucky to have a professional make up artist like me!” he added while laughing his signature laugh.
“I don’t want to put make up on,” Jaejoong protested. “I have to clean them before going to sleep, and it’s a bother,” he added.
“I’ll help you clean up later, now shush,” Junsu said and Jaejoong shut up, letting Junsu do whatever he wanted.
Fifteen minutes later, Junsu was finally finished, and Jaejoong was extremely relieved he could finally stand up since his butt was getting sore from sitting too long.
“You look good,” Junsu squealed in excitement as he jumped around, nearly tripping over the bed. “Now, Yunho-hyung better properly appreciate my hard work!” he exclaimed, remembering the last time he worked on Jaejoong and Yunho got a nosebleed.
“Thank you, Su-ah,” Jaejoong said with a smile, although he was clearly fidgeting with the dress he was wearing. It was a simple knee-length dress with fluffed up skirt. The color was a metallic gray that reflected the lights here and there, and it was sleeveless. The cut was low enough to reveal his collar bones, but not low enough to reach the chest area.
“Are you-“
“Get out!” Junsu shouted and shooed Yunho out of the room before he could even finish the sentence.
“Hey! I wasn’t waiting for a bride yet!” Yunho protested.
“Yet,” Yoochun mumbled, nodding as he stood beside the door and watched as Junsu slammed the door shut.
“I’m sorry, Yunho-yah, but can you wait for another five minutes?” Jaejoong peeked out of the room and smiled at the two. “You two look nice,” he added before retreating back to the room.
“Thank you Jae!” Yoochun shouted and heard a “You’re welcome” from inside before he went back to staring at Yunho who was pouting at not being let to see Jaejoong.
“Hey, patience is a virtue,” Yoochun pointed out with a grin that looked almost like a smirk. “Or are you that anxious to see your princess?” he teased.
“Shut up,” Yunho muttered as he crossed his arms and went to lean on the wall beside Yoochun, staring into space for a few minutes while the two girls did the finishing touches inside.
“Finished!” Junsu exclaimed excitedly as he stepped out of the room grinning widely. He was wearing a simple white t-shirt and black suit, complete with black dress pants.
Yoochun grinned. “You look nice, Su-ie,” he complimented as he slung an arm over Junsu’s shoulder. He himself was wearing pretty much the same outfit, just in different colors, though they were still dark.
Yunho was wearing all black, but it didn’t look awkward. “Where’s Jae?”
“Princess is still taking care of the heels,” Junsu admitted as he grinned slightly. “He should be ready any minute now.”
As if it was his cue, Jaejoong stepped out of the room, dressed in the gray dress and carrying a pair of gray high heels, the one with pin heels.
“You can walk in those?” Yunho asked in awe as he stared at the pair of shoes with ties here and there. Yunho was reminded of the ancient Roman soldiers’ shoes when he saw them, but he didn’t dare voice it.
“Yes, if I walk slowly,” Jaejoong nodded and Yunho was even more awed.
They walked towards the front door together as they all planned to eat out, though they went separately. To keep themselves from feeling bad for the youngest, they decided to buy the youngest a huge chocolate cake to keep him occupied for the time being.
When they arrived at the front door, they all put their shoes on, and Yunho watched as Jaejoong put the high heels on, and started walking towards the door, opening it for the three of them.
“You call that slow!?” Yunho freaked out.
“He’s a fast runner, Yunho-hyung. Of course that’s considered slow.”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Yunjae was sitting across each other, seated in a table for two, with a vase of red rose in the middle and a candelabra standing at a safe distance from the rose. Two identical plates with gold linings outlining them were placed in front of them, along with a set of eating utensils that were made from silver.
“I’m lucky I know these,” Jaejoong commented as he stared at the various eating utensils and secretly thanked his mother for telling him the different utensils for cooking and eating.
“Sorry, for taking you to such place,” Yunho apologized when he realized his mistake. Jaejoong knew for a fact he was rich, but not exactly how rich. And he wasn’t accustomed to eating out in such fancy places.
“No, it’s alright,” Jaejoong shook his head and smiled sweetly at him. “It’s a nice place, and it’s not too expensive.”
Yunho couldn’t help but smile back at him, silently thanking him for his understanding by squeezing his hand lightly.
The waiters came and put away the used plates before they came back with plates of dessert, which were crème brulee with a few slices of cakes beside it.
“I’m thankful there’s no waitress like last time,” Jaejoong commented idly as he started cutting his cake and ate it slowly.
“You don’t know how happy I am,” Yunho sighed, remembering the almost maniacal waitress they met at the coffee shop.
“You suggested that place,” Jaejoong pointed out as he raised his eyebrow at him.
“I didn’t know she worked there,” Yunho defended himself.
“Yes, yes, I believe you,” Jaejoong nodded absently as he finished his dessert and washed away the lingering sweet taste with the red wine served.
Yunho finished as well, and looked at Jaejoong who was looking back at him. “Did you enjoy yourself tonight?”
“Yes, I did,” Jaejoong nodded. “Hm, what occasion is this? Or are you just feeling like it?”
Yunho laughed. “I’m just feeling like it. It’s nearly White Day anyway.”
“Oh, right,” Jaejoong mumbled when he realized that it indeed was nearly White Day. “You don’t have to give me marshmallows… I don’t like them.”
Yunho laughed again. “God Jaejoong, I love you so much,” he said, his eyes twinkling in amusement. “You always amuse me.”
“I wasn’t intending on amusing anyone,” Jaejoong protested feebly as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
Yunho asked the waiter for their bill, and after paying, he got up to stand in front of Jaejoong, offering his hand.
“Thank you,” Jaejoong said as he pulled himself up and stood behind Yunho, letting himself be led to their parking area.
Right before he opened the passenger door for Jaejoong, Yunho pushed him against the door and kissed him softly.
“You look really good tonight, Boo,” he complimented with a soft smile. “Junsu did a great job.”
“You should thank him later,” Jaejoong laughed as he hugged Yunho. “And you’re a little late, aren’t you?”
“No, I saved it for the last,” Yunho replied with a laugh. “I want to be the last to see you this lovely tonight.”
“Mushy,” Jaejoong accused, trying to fight back the grin threatening to form on his face.
“Let’s go home now,” Yunho said, ignoring Jaejoong’s accusation. “Maybe if we get home early enough, we can continue.”
“Continue what, Yunho-yah?” Jaejoong asked with a teasing smile. “You still have that make up Chemistry exam for messing up your previous exam, remember?”
“You’re ruining the mood,” Yunho pouted.
“You’re welcome~”
End of Chapter Twenty Two
Ah… finished at last. Took so much out of me. Five pages, longer than the usual ^-^;;
I just had to make Jae good at Chemistry, because that’s what I’m good at. I mean, I’m not bad at Math and Biology, but not the best. And I simply suck at Physics -_-;;; it’s a topic we’re talking about lately, organic chemistry I mean, though we’re now talking about alcohols, carbonyls, carboxylic acids, and esters.
Oh, in case you’re wondering, the Chemistry text book used is the one published by Cambridge University, for AS and A-level XDD
For those who don’t really know what -chan is, it’s a suffix in Japanese, usually used to call a child who is far younger than you, to tease a younger boy, to call a girl you’re really close to, or something like that. When it’s used on a boy, it’s usually either on a much younger boy, or to tease :DD
Hope you enjoyed. I’m planning on a humorous one-shot after this, based on real life incident XD please do wait for it.
