A/N: the chapter number finally hits two digits *does a happy dance* there’s a timeskip here, but not major. I’m having a busy week ahead of me, and I’m not sure if I can upload as fast. If I can’t, let’s just wait until Friday and I’ll try to update then ^___^
The tradition Jae’s mother talked about in the third chapter will be mentioned again in the next chapter (then why am I talking about it now?) and will be explained much later. There won’t be many Seulgi appearances anymore… or at least I hope not
Chapter Ten - Flags, Rooms, and Colds
A week had passed since the incident in which Yunho barged into Jaejoong’s room when he asked him whether he wanted to come along to the coffee shop or not, and a lot of life-changing events happened, namely: the argument whether Jaeho or Yunjae was better, and the questioning of the sleeping arrangements.
-.-.-.-.-. flashback -.-.-.-.-.
“So, we will do the procession exactly like the one we did when we were deciding whether it should be Yoosu or Junchun,” Changmin started, and the three stared at him intently while Jaejoong looked lost.
“What happened back then?” Jaejoong asked, not knowing that something of that kind ever happened.
“Well, basically, we vote whether it should be Yoosu or Junchun, and state our reasons. The one with the most votes or the most valid arguments win, and it happened that Yoosu won,” Changmin explained.
“Of course, I voted for Yoosu,” Yoochun started smugly. “And everyone knows I’m good at arguing.”
“But that doesn’t necessarily mean that Yoochun-hyung is in charge of situations at most times,” Changmin shook his head. “Usually he obeys whatever Junsu-hyung says, but of course, Junsu-hyung follows Yoochun-hyung anywhere too, so it’s kinda balanced,” he explained.
Jaejoong nodded doubtfully. He didn’t really get it, but he felt like he should just nod.
“Can I not vote? It feels awkward,” Jaejoong muttered shyly as he bit his own lip.
“Ah, no worries. Yunho-hyung will participate as well,” Changmin said as he patted Jaejoong’s back reassuringly. “And Yoochun-hyung and Junsu-hyung participated as well.”
“Oh fine,” Jaejoong huffed slightly.
“Well, who should start first?” Changmin asked, looking for volunteers.
“I’ll start,” Yoochun raised his hand. “In terms of literality, I say it’s Yunjae,” he stated. “We all know that Yunho is the man in the relationship. So it should be Yunjae.”
Yunho nodded in agreement while Jaejoong looked thoughtful. Changmin looked indifferent and Junsu looked ready to shoot down his argument.
“When we’re speaking in terms of figurativeness, I say it’s definitely Jaeho,” Junsu continued without being asked. “Yunho is helpless. I bet if they get into a relationship, Jaejoong-shii will be the one to lead the way around while Yunho follows everywhere she goes.”
“What do you say, Jae-nuna?” Changmin asked.
“Jaeho,” Jaejoong said firmly. “I don’t like being topped, and there’s a saying, “girls on top”, isn’t there?” he laughed slightly.
A few oohs could be heard from all around the room, followed by a few amused grins and perverted snickers.
“Not that kind of topped!” Jaejoong protested, blushing bright red.
“Of course we understand,” Yoochun patted Jaejoong’s shoulder. “We went through this kind of argument as well when we first started.”
“So… you guys have done it?” Jaejoong asked, his eyes widened in disbelief.
“No!” Junsu protested. “We were just talking about it in case it happened!”
“Oh,” Jaejoong mumbled and nodded.
“Shall we continue?” Changmin asked, sighing tiredly. The conversation was going off topic and it didn’t happen back then.
“I vote for Yunjae,” Yunho stated calmly. “Figuratively,” he emphasized the word before Yoochun could start laughing, “I’m the man in this relationship, and I will do anything in my power to protect Jaejoong and fulfill her needs. Doesn’t that mean I deserve the position at the front?”
Yoochun rolled his eyes. “That was exactly what I said back then,” he said and Yunho frantically tried to shush him.
Jaejoong, who was blushing slightly when he listened to Yunho’s mini-speech, was now laughing on the couch.
“So, two for Jaeho and two for Yunjae with equally valid reasons,” Junsu concluded. “Your say is playing a huge role in this, Minnie-ah. Don’t make the wrong decision.”
Junsu sat beside Jaejoong and claimed it to be the Jaeho side while Yoochun casually sat beside Yunho in the area which they dubbed the Yunjae area.
“This is getting ridiculous,” Changmin shook his head and thought about it over. “In both literality and figurativeness, I say that it could be Yunjae and Jaeho. But then again…”
The four looked at him expectantly.
“I like the sound of Yunjae better…”
The four fell off the couch.
“What kind of reason is that!?” Junsu protested as he stomped over to Changmin and was ready to get him into a chokehold.
“Hey! You said that your votes cancelled each other and that my vote counts! So it’s Yunjae!” Changmin protested back.
Jaejoong blinked, looking rather confused and lost. Yoochun grinned as he patted Changmin’s back and Yunho was grinning from ear to ear like an idiot.
“Now, let’s go make a Yunjae flag and raise it beside the Yoosu flag!”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“Hey, I have a question,” Yunho started randomly when the four of them were gathering in the living room, waiting for Jaejoong to finish cooking and call them for dinner.
Changmin looked up from the bag of candies, Junsu looked at him with a raised eyebrow while Yoochun grunted in acknowledgement as he continued watching the television.
“What do you say if I move to Jaejoong’s room?”
And a series of reactions were triggered.
“What!?” Junsu shrieked. “I know you like her and all, but isn’t this taking it too far!?”
“No! Don’t taint Jae-nuna’s innocence and purity with your perverseness!”
“You have to ask her parents first!”
“You guys haven’t even kissed yet!”
“Hey, they haven’t even gone out yet!”
“Oh right. You haven’t even confessed to her yet!”
“What does that have to do with sleeping in the same room!?”
“That’s the last stage of dating, idiot!”
“What are you guys talking about?” Jaejoong asked as he peeked into the living room.
“Nothing important really, just a stupid question Yunho posed,” Junsu shrugged a little.
“What is it?” Jaejoong asked again, standing at the door.
“Would you mind if I stay in your room?” Yunho asked.
“Say yes!” the three shouted at her.
“Oh my goodness, the fish!” Jaejoong exclaimed in surprise and ran back to the kitchen as the smell of overcooked meat wafted.
And thus, the ultimate question was left unanswered.
-.-.-.-.-. end of flashback -.-.-.-.-.
Amazingly, they all had PE class together, and they were having a swimming lesson.
“Ms. Kim, why aren’t you inside?” the instructor asked as she looked over at Jaejoong who was sitting by the side of the pool, looking gloomily at the water.
“Ah, I’m very susceptible to cold, so I’m not allowed inside a pool,” he lied quickly while shaking his head.
The instructor merely nodded her head and looked back at the bunch of girls giggling in the pool, shouting at them to start swimming instead of chatting and gossiping.
“You’re not really weak to cold, are you?” Yunho asked suddenly as he got out of the pool and sat down beside Jaejoong.
“Put on a towel or something, you’ll catch a cold,” Jaejoong shrugged as he handed Yunho a big white towel. “And no, not really, but I don’t like the cold.”
Yunho pulled the towel around him and watched as the three “kids” played with water inside the pool, betting on who could stay underwater the longest.
“Did you lose something?” Yunho asked in a somewhat random manner, but Jaejoong pursed his lips. “Your eyes were looking everywhere, but mainly at the pool. Something fell inside?”
“No, it’s nothing,” Jaejoong shook his head. “Don’t worry.”
Yunho patted Jaejoong’s head. “You know you can tell me if you have a problem, right?” he asked. “I know I haven’t told you this, but I like you. I really do. I’m willing to do anything for you if only you’d ask.”
Jaejoong looked over at the pool and sighed. “It’s nothing, really. At least it’s nothing that I can’t handle,” he said.
“I’ll take your words then.”
Jaejoong merely nodded a little.
“Instructor! Jung Yunho is slacking off to flirt with Ms. Kim!”
End of Chapter Ten
Come to think of it, they haven’t confessed to each other yet, have they? That makes their relationship somewhat unofficial. That will be taken care of soon, but I can’t tell just how soon.
Hope you enjoyed, anyway. Credit for the phrase “girls on top” goes to “Obsession” by vrilly.
