A/N: I don’t really know what happened, but it seems that my third-eye chakra is being over-active. I used to read fics without really imagining things-and even if I tried, I couldn’t anyway-but nowadays, without even trying to, the images just came to my mind >_< it’s nice to have those images in my mind, but I’m getting scared. I wasn’t good at imagining things before
The members of the Student Council are renewed-finally-and my friends said it was a pity because I didn’t join it anymore. I thought it’s for the best, since I was very busy during the one year I was one. I expect to have a lot of free times now ^____^
Chapter Eight - Lunch Break
Jaejoong slapped his own forehead when he noticed he had forgotten something. He then turned back to his class, but waited outside instead of walking right inside. After all, having made a dramatic exit like that, it wouldn’t do to get back inside only to retrieve the chocolates he forgot about while his mind was reeling over the fact that he’d finally get his hands on the CD he had wanted for months.
Imagine how he squealed in delight when he saw Yunho walking out of the classroom with a bag of chocolates in his hand-and with Seulgi trailing behind him, but the fact was easily dismissed by him-and a pout plastered on his face.
“Ah, you brought them for me!” he exclaimed happily as he waited for Yunho to approach him. “Now then, since you’ve carried it for me here, why don’t you carry it for me the rest of the way to the cafeteria?” he asked with a sweet smile as he clasped his hands together.
“Slave driver,” Yunho muttered under his breath and sulked even more. The bag wasn’t heavy, but he didn’t like getting ordered around.
But he decided that maybe he could make an exception for Jaejoong.
Seulgi was munching on her cookies bitterly, wincing at the slightly strange taste the whipped cream and strawberry jam combined together created. Now she couldn’t decide if she was happy Yunho decided not to eat her cookies, lest he started to hate her and accuse her of trying to poison him.
“Jaejoong,” Seulgi started as she fished around her paper bag for another of her cookies. “I’ll just leave the CD on your doorstep tomorrow. Don’t bother looking for me,” she added reluctantly. Even though she was the queen of the school, she wasn’t one to back down from her promises.
“Yes, of course. I’ll be waiting,” Jaejoong replied happily, not realizing that Seulgi was glaring daggers at him again.
“What are you talking about?” Yunho asked, lifting an eyebrow at the two of them. He was clearly not paying attention since he was busy catching glimpses of the students’ hands and Jaejoong knew why, though he didn’t say anything because he thought it wasn’t his business.
“Oh, no, just a little bet, that’s all,” Jaejoong replied off-handedly. “Hey look, is that Junsu or am I imagining things?” he asked as he pointed at the figure standing in front of the cafeteria door, glaring straight at them heatedly and effectively scaring anyone who was trying to get inside.
“Now, what’s he doing? Testing out his sight?” Yunho asked, narrowing his eyes slightly and Jaejoong clearly doubted it was Junsu who needed his sight tested. They were, after all, only standing five meters away from Junsu.
“Oh, and it’s rude to point,” Yunho added as he slapped Jaejoong’s hand. Jaejoong pouted slightly but obeyed nonetheless.
“What took you so long!?” Junsu nearly whined, emphasizing the word long in hopes of making the two eldest feel slightly guilty for making them wait.
“I forgot my truffles and Yunho was looking for the ring,” Jaejoong pointed out as he motioned towards Yunho and Junsu watched with a raised eyebrow as Yunho looked around almost frantically, trying to see if anyone was wearing the ring.
“Looking for The Ring? Why would I? I watched it already!” Yunho protested.
Jaejoong, Junsu, and Seulgi all looked at him strangely, and he made a mental note to never butt in if he wasn’t paying attention before.
“What did you talk about, again?” Yunho asked, looking at Jaejoong. He was slightly blushing in embarrassment and was trying his hardest to change the topic.
“Oh, the bet?” Jaejoong asked back. “Mm… we were only betting on whose confection you’d choose. Turned out I won,” he said almost triumphantly as he grinned slightly.
“Oh? And what did you win?” Junsu asked, and the door behind him opened to reveal Yoochun who looked a little tired.
“Gah, why didn’t you guys come in? I tried my best fending Changmin off of your food, but you’ll just have to buy a new set,” Yoochun sighed tiredly as he slumped against Junsu a little.
“No worries, Chun. We’ll just buy a new set, right?” Junsu patted Yoochun’s shoulders and turned to look at Yunho and Jaejoong who nodded. “Now, back to the topic of the bet. What did you win?”
“I promised that I’d switch places with her if I lose, but she’d have to buy me a new original music CD if I win,” Jaejoong explained simply.
“Hm, can you cook?” Junsu asked Seulgi. It wasn’t really out of the blue, but Seulgi didn’t expect it.
“No,” Seulgi shook her head. “Not really, I mean.”
“Oh? Then you can dream of taking Jaejoong’s place in our house,” Junsu shook his head. “We need someone who can cook, and in a large amount at that,” he added, remembering that Changmin’s stomach could hold in the amount of food needed to feed three starving dogs.
“Hey, what music CD did you win?” Yoochun asked, talking as if Jaejoong had just won a lottery.
“Ah! I won Linkin Park’s newest album!” Jaejoong grinned again.
“Isn’t that supposed to be Limp Bizkit?” Yunho asked, raising an eyebrow.
“My goodness, Yunho, what century do you live in?” Yoochun asked, cackling evilly a little. He liked teasing Yunho as much as he liked teasing Junsu. They both responded so well.
“Is it a crime for not knowing what that Linking Bark is?” Yunho huffed.
“Linkin Park!” Junsu and Jaejoong corrected at the same time, and they looked at each other.
“Oh my God, you got the Minutes to Midnight!?” Junsu squealed when he finally registered which album Jaejoong had won.
“Yes! And oh my goodness, What I’ve Done totally rocks!”
“Yeah! Chester is the best!”
And the two squealed like rabid fan girls before they hugged each other tightly, sputtering nonsense that went along the line of “I finally met a fellow Linkin Park fan!”.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“Remind me why she is here again?” Changmin asked as he slurped his noodles and munched on it thoughtfully.
“Because her friends weren’t having lunch and she had nowhere to sit?” Jaejoong offered helpfully and Changmin face-faulted at that excuse.
“How lame could she get?” he thought to himself, but decided not to say it out loud. Being the perceptive one he was, he knew that Jaejoong adored Seulgi. He was in no place to burst his bubbles, although Seulgi was seated beside Yunho.
“Yunho-oppa, say ah~”
Changmin blanched and he nearly spat out his food. To think that such act could cause him the urge to do something he vowed never to do-spit out his food. Of course, unless the food was terribly cooked or something.
“I’m not disabled. I can feed myself,” Yunho protested as he took his own chopsticks and feed himself, much to Seulgi’s dismay.
What did he see in Jaejoong anyway? She couldn’t think of a reason why they all would like Jaejoong, except for the fact that he was beautiful, he cooked well, and he was smart.
Okay, so there were plenty of reasons, but still.
Changmin laughed mentally, but stopped himself and went back to his food quickly when he saw the Yoosu feeding each other.
“Oh, hey Changmin-ah, Junsu and Yoochun, here,” Jaejoong exclaimed, suddenly remembering the chocolates he had made for them earlier that day. He took the bag from the floor and handed it over to Changmin.
“What are these? Chocolates?” Changmin asked as he eyed the contents of the bag. “Thanks, Jae-nuna!”
“Close. They’re truffles, and you’re welcome,” Jaejoong answered with a smile. “Well, unlike someone here, you could actually see the chocolates inside. I’m impressed.”
“Hey! It wasn’t my fault the plastic wrap was bunched up like that!” Yunho protested and Jaejoong kicked his foot, shoving a spoonful of food into Yunho’s mouth.
“Shut up and eat.”
And Yunho grudgingly did as he was told while Seulgi glared at them again.
End of Chapter Eight
This chapter was finally finished. My muse left me and I spent a lot of time stressing over the weekly activities and the earlier posts in Detox. Yes, I’ve been surfing Detox.
This chapter was rewritten two times, meaning this is the third version of this chapter. It was hard, trying to get the humor inside, and also the Yunjae, but I managed. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
I was actually going to insert a food fight scene in this chapter, but maybe I'll just include it in the next one. Or I'll just skip it altogether. Which one do you want?
