A/N: case five of Law and Order :DDD I’m finally back with a new case X3 this one is dedicated to everyone who told me they wanted to see what’d happen if one day Yunho failed or made the wrong decision.  Well, nothing major in this case, but hopefully it appeases your curiosity :3

Um, well, he doesn’t really fail XDDD but he can’t give the answer X3

Rising Star

Changmin walked towards the mailbox of their apartment, and searched through the pile of letters to see if there were any request letters for them.  His eyes fell upon a neat small white envelope among the piles of big envelopes, and promptly widened when he saw the name of the sender.

“This name…!”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Jaejoong looked up from the dining table as he placed a plate of bacons on the table when he heard the door bang open and close in hurry as Changmin rushed inside.

“What’s wrong, Minnie-ah?” Jaejoong asked as he stood up straight and watched the panting man in front of him.  “Did you find a dead cat outside again?”

“No!” Changmin shouted back frantically.  “There’s a request letter today,” he said, waving his hand which was holding the letter.  “Guess who it came from.”

“What’s wrong?” Yunho asked as he walked into the living room after he heard the loud bangs.

“Minnie said he found a request letter today,” Jaejoong pointed out, looking at Yunho.  “Oh, he also asked us to guess who the sender is,” he added.

“Aish, just give the letter to me already,” Yunho said as he extended his arm towards Changmin, asking for the letter, while Jaejoong moved to his side to read the letter as well.

Changmin hesitantly gave the envelope to Yunho, and waited for their reaction.

Sender: Jung Ki Hae

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Where are you going, Appa?”

“I’m going on another case.  Be good and take care of Jaejoong while I’m away.”

“Okay.  Be back soon.”

“I will.  I love you Yunho.”

“I love you too.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Welcome,” a middle-aged man greeted as he walked towards the entrance of the museum, dressed in a white shirt, a black bow tie, a black tuxedo, black trousers, and a top hat.  He also had a walking stick with him, although he walked perfectly fine.  He looked kind and fatherly as well.

“I suppose you are the investigators I called for?” he asked as he eyed the three of them.  “My name is Jung Ki Hae, but I’m sure you all know.”

“Yes, we do,” Yunho answered for them as he shook Ki Hae’s hand.  “Where is the gem kept?” he asked, looking around the exhibition room.

“Ah, the room,” Ki Hae nodded.  “Let me show you the way,” he requested as he walked to the center part of the museum, followed by the three men.  He stopped in front of a huge double oak door, and opened it, revealing a room with many valuables which were stored in glass cases.

Jaejoong looked around and took note of the various gems, necklaces, and earrings that were decorated with valuable gems or big gems.  In the middle of the room, stood a small pedestal with a necklace in it.  it was a gold necklace with a huge bloodstone as the pendant.

“This is the Blood Pledge, my prized bloodstone necklace,” Ki Hae said as he motioned at the necklace in the glass case.  “I want you guys to protect this today because it’s going to be on exhibit, and some people are known for wanting these,” he explained.

“I understand.  Do you know who could want the necklace?” Yunho inquired.

“Hm… well, there are Saneul, Kina, Shimin, and Hee Soo.  I think they’re in this museum somewhere.  You can meet them if you want,” Ki Hae answered.  “And if you manage to protect it, I’ll consider giving you the Rising Star,” he said, showing them a silver necklace with a star-shaped pendant.  It had obsidian, ruby, amethyst, sapphire, and green beryl at the points, and a sunstone in the middle.  It was quite small, but pretty.

“Wow, that looks very expensive,” Changmin commented as he inspected the necklace.  “You sure we can have it?” he asked, a little unsurely.

“Yes,” Ki Hae nodded firmly.  “This is nothing compared to my Blood Pledge.  I can’t protect it myself, so I’m relying on you guys to do it for me.”

“I see.  Leave it to us,” Yunho said as he nodded back at Ki Hae.

Ki Hae looked at them, and smiled a little.  “What’s your name, boy?” he asked as he looked at Jaejoong.

“Huh?  Oh, Jaejoong.  Kim Jaejoong,” Jaejoong answered, slightly confused as to why he asked for his name.

“If you can protect Blood Pledge, I want you to have the Rising Star,” Ki Hae said, smiling kindly at him.  “You really look like my daughter.”

Jaejoong fell silent afterwards, his expression going blank for a while.

“What happened to your daughter?” Changmin inquired.  “If you don’t mind telling us, of course,” he quickly added.

“Oh, nothing bad really,” Ki Hae laughed.  “She got married last month, and went off to the States.  I haven’t seen her since, and seeing you made me remember her.”

“Oh,” Jaejoong mumbled.  “Thank you.”

“Well, anyway, I’ll be going first then,” Ki Hae excused himself.  “I’ll see you later in the evening,” he added, and walked out of the exhibition room.

As soon as he was out of the room, the three quickly gathered in a small circle.

“Did you remember the names of the suspects?” Yunho asked as he turned to Changmin.  “Call Junsu and ask him to gather information as quickly as possible.  We’ll need it.”

“What are you going to do meanwhile?” Changmin asked as he took his cell phone out.

“I’m taking a walk around,” Yunho shrugged.  “We’ll look after this in shifts,” he added, and walked off.

“Yah, Yunho-ah!” Jaejoong protested as he watched Yunho walk away.  “That jerk.  He can never stand still whenever we’re in a museum,” he mumbled angrily.

Changmin laughed.  “That bad?” he asked.

“Yep, I don’t know how he understands those complicated paintings, sculptures and whatever, but he does,” Jaejoong shrugged, and fell silent when Changmin raised his phone to his ear.

“Ah, hey Junsu-hyung.  I need you to look up the information on some people whose name I’ll mention shortly.  Please give the information to me, and I’ll pass it to Yunho-hyung,” Changmin said, and waited for Junsu to reply.  “Okay, so, the people are Saneul, Kina, Shimin, and Hee Soo.”

A short pause, and then Changmin grinned.  “Good.  I’ll be waiting then.”

“Have Junsu said okay?” Jaejoong asked, looking around.

“Yes.  Hyung, you can go and walk around,” Changmin said.  “I’ll look after the necklace meanwhile.”

“You sure?” Jaejoong asked a little hesitantly.  “It’s not that I don’t believe you or something, no, I think you’re a great investigator Min.  It’s just that it might get lonely after a while.”

“Aw, no worries, I will be fine here,” Changmin grinned.  “Why don’t you find Yunho-hyung?”

“I guess,” Jaejoong shrugged.  “I’m going now then.”

“See you!”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Ah, so you’re Jun Kina.  I’m Jung Yunho, nice to meet you,” Yunho said as he introduced himself to a woman who happened to be admiring the same piece of art.

“I didn’t know young men nowadays like arts,” Kina commented, smiling a little.

“I study arts a little,” Yunho shrugged.  “Are you here for the main exhibit, the Blood Pledge?” he asked.

“Oh, that fine piece of jewelry,” Kina gushed happily.  “I want it so much, and I’m still trying to haggle with the price Ki Hae offered.  Pssh, that guy sure knows the value of antiques.  I thought he’s only a rich man who knows nothing.”

Yunho laughed a little.  “Well, Ki Hae-shii did strike me as a person who knows a lot about what he has,” he commented.

“That’s true,” Kina sighed.  “Well, I’m still trying.  He’s bound to give in sooner or later.”

Yunho merely smiled a little at her.  “Well, I’ll be going first then.  Good luck.”

“See you.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Ouch!” Jaejoong exclaimed as he fell down after he bumped into someone taller than him.

“I’m sorry, are you okay?” the man who bumped into him asked as he offered a hand.

“I’m okay,” Jaejoong said, standing up and dusting off his pants.

“Sorry for not looking,” the man said sheepishly.

“Ah, no, it’s alright,” Jaejoong shook his head.

“Excuse me then,” the man said, and walked off.

Jaejoong looked at him curiously, but shrugged it off and continued walking.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Appa, what are you doing!?” a young woman demanded as she stood angrily a few feet from Yunho and a middle-aged man.

“Ah, sorry, sorry, I’ll be there soon,” the man said apologetically.  “Well young man, that is my daughter who constantly gives me troubles,” he said jokingly.  “She’s wanting Blood Pledge now, so I have to compete with Kina to get the necklace.”

“I see,” Yunho nodded sympathetically.  “I’m sorry for you, Shimin-shii,” he smiled a little.  “See you then.  Your daughter is calling for you.”

“Yeah, see you later.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Yeoboseyo?” Changmin said as he held his cell phone to his ears.

“Min, I’ve gotten the information you asked for.”

“Great, spill,” Changmin said.

“First, Jun Kina.  She’s an antique collector, and her next target is Blood Pledge.  She’s not very rich, so the price Jung Ki Hae offered for it isn’t acceptable for her.  Next is Han Shimin.  He’s a millionaire whose daughter is very spoiled.  She is asking for Blood Pledge now, and he’s competing with Kina for it.  Third, In Saneul.  He’s an IT expert who is in need of money to fund the making of his program, and it’s said that he is taking jobs from people, and is somehow involved in a planned theft of Blood Pledge, although whose plan it is, it’s still not known.  Last is Kim Hee Soo.  He believes Blood Pledge brings good luck to Ki Hae, and he wants the necklace.”

“Okay thanks,” Changmin said, and quickly hung up.  He then called Yunho’s number.  “Hyung, Junsu-hyung has gotten the needed information.”

He relayed the information to Yunho, and as he finished, he could almost see Yunho grinning.

“Great.  I know who it is, I’ll come over there right away.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Yunho paused in his track when he heard his phone ringing.  Taking it out, he stared at the screen before he picked it up.  “Yeoboseyo?”

“Yunho-ah, where are you?  Come to the painting room.  There’s something awesome over here.”

“Okay, okay, I’m coming over.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Minnie-ah, do you know where Yunho is?” Jaejoong asked as he walked over to Changmin who was still guarding the glass case.

“Aish hyung, you were the one who asked him to go to the painting room!” Changmin said as he flipped his phone shut.  “But wait a minute, why were you calling me just now?”

“Huh?  I didn’t!” Jaejoong defended himself.  “Someone stole my cell phone,” he added, frowning.  “I only noticed I lost it a few minutes ago, that’s why I came back here.”

“Then…” Changmin frowned as well.

“Someone tricked Yunho.  I’ll go look for him,” Jaejoong offered as he sighed heavily.  “You wait here, Min.”

“Don’t take long!” Changmin warned.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Yunho looked up at the wooden door that creaked open, and sighed as a figure walked inside, and pushed another figure forward before exiting and locking the door.

“Hey there,” Yunho greeted sourly.

“Shut up,” Jaejoong huffed.  “They took your cell phones too?” he asked.

“Yeah… they did,” Yunho sighed again.  “You okay?  Did they do anything to you?”

“No, they didn’t,” Jaejoong shook his head.

“Good, because I won’t be able to face my father later if you aren’t,” Yunho said, laughing a little as he moved back, giving Jaejoong more space to sit in the small storage.

“Listen Yunho, there’s something you must do when I’m away.”

“I know.”

“Be a man, and take care of Jaejoong.”

“I will.”

“Stop,” Jaejoong said sternly, shaking Yunho’s shoulders slightly.  “Don’t think about it.  Just don’t.”

“You’re worried,” Yunho grinned widely.

“I’m not,” Jaejoong huffed.

“Yes you are,” Yunho said, and moved back again.  “Come here,” he patted the space in front of him.

“You two are over-protective,” Jaejoong commented as he moved close to Yunho.

“Is it our fault, though?” Yunho wondered, looking up at the dark ceiling.

“Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t,” Jaejoong mumbled, snuggling up to Yunho.

“You give off the aura of wanting to be protected,” Yunho mumbled back, burying his face in Jaejoong’s hair.

“I’m not a girl,” Jaejoong glared at him.

“I didn’t say you are,” Yunho shrugged nonchalantly.  “How’s Min?”

“He’s doing fine, I guess,” Jaejoong shrugged.  “I hope they don’t get to him as well.”

“They better not, or I’ll kill them one by one,” Yunho rolled his eyes.

“Okay, let me rephrase that.  I’m sure Minnie-ah will find us here.  Don’t you think so?” Jaejoong asked, smiling a little.

“Of course.  He’s my protégé, after all.”

“Self-conceited jerk.”

“But you like me~”

“Shut up.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Changmin heaved a deep sigh.  “Great, so they got to Jae-hyung as well.  Shouldn’t have let him wander alone.  Yunho-hyung will have my head.”

He looked around, and noticed that there were only a few people in the main room, since the main event was later in the evening.  Ki Hae wanted the necklace to still be there for the main event.

“Are you guarding this necklace or something?” a woman asked as she walked up to him.

“Hm?  Oh, no, I’m just looking at it,” Changmin lied quickly.

“Ah, you’re like that Jung guy I met earlier,” Kina commented.  “I didn’t know there are still many young men who appreciate arts,” she added.

“You met Jung Yunho?” Changmin asked.

“Yes, I’m Jun Kina, an antique collector,” Kina said.  “I met him while we were admiring the same thing.”

“I see.  I’m his friend,” Changmin said, and tried to convince himself that he wasn’t really lying.

“Oh you are, that’s why you two have the same interest?” Kina asked.

“Maybe,” Changmin shrugged.

“Good for you then.  I think women nowadays like guys who understand arts.  I think,” Kina shrugged and looked at him, smiling a little.  “If you also want the Blood Pledge, then you’re in tough luck, though.”

Changmin laughed.  “No, I don’t want the Blood Pledge,” he shook his head.

“Oh, okay then.  See you.”

Changmin waved at her, and a young girl walked over to the case.

“Appa, appa!  Come here, quick!” she said as she waved her arm frantically, asking her father to come over.

“Calm down, Minhwa, you might break something,” her father warned as he walked over to her.

“Aish, don’t be such a killjoy!” she pouted.  “Look, look, the Blood Pledge looks even more beautiful now!” she gushed happily, staring at the pendant with fascination.

Changmin looked at them with interest.

“Oh hey, what are you doing standing here?” Shimin asked, lifting an eyebrow.  “I noticed you weren’t looking at Blood Pledge even though you were standing right beside it.”

“Oh, that,” Changmin mumbled.  “Well, I’m taking a short break, and since this is the main room, I don’t see why not.”

Shimin nodded in understanding.  “Oh, I better go now.  My daughter wants to see something else now.”

Changmin laughed and waved at him as he walked off, trying his hardest to keep up with his daughter.

“Excuse me,” a voice asked, and Changmin moved away from the glass case to let the person walk up to it.

“It’s still so beautiful,” a man said to the one beside him.

“Yeah…”

The first man sighed, and stood straight up.  He looked at Changmin, and wondered, “Aren’t you a friend of that investigator?”

“You know him?” Changmin asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

“Yep, we talked for a while earlier,” the man said.  “Oh, I’m Kim Hee Soo by the way.  I met Yunho-shii while we were looking at a wooden amulet from Africa over there.”

“I see,” Changmin nodded.

“I also told him the necklace would look good on his lover, but he said his lover doesn’t like jewelries,” Hee Soo shrugged.  “That’s strange.  A person that beautiful shouldn’t hate jewelries.”

“You met him as well?” Changmin was surprised.

“Well, yes,” Hee Soo nodded.  “Saneul here bumped into him and I happened to see them from a distance.”

“You’re here for the main exhibit as well then?” Changmin asked, pointing at the Blood Pledge.

“Why, of course!” Hee Soo laughed.  “This is the main event of the exhibit after all.”

Changmin nodded in agreement.  “I guess you’re right.  Oh, by the way, excuse me for a while.”

Changmin walked out of the main room, and stood there, thinking about what he had learned.  This was the first time he investigated without Yunho with him, and it somehow made him nervous.

He grinned a little.  “Well, I’m always up for some challenge,” he muttered to himself, and mulled over the facts again, before his grin widened.

“Yunho-hyung better thank me for this.”

End of Rising Star

I’ll write the answer part as soon as I can.  Hopefully it won’t be as long a wait as the answer part for Trust and Betrayal :3

Okay, so here is the suspect list (if I’m being vague again): Jun Kina, Han Shimin, and Kim Hee Soo.

Again, this case is soooo obvious -_-;;; I think I’m running out of ideas here XDD
