Trust and Betrayal - Answer

A bus stopped in front of a bus stop, and a few people stepped down from it, immediately going to where they were heading after their feet had connected with solid ground.

Unlike those people, Jaejoong stopped for a while at the bus stop.  He took out his cell phone, and took one last look at the message sent earlier, before he walked off to the house right beside the Hurricane restaurant.

Sender: Yunho-yah

Message:  Jae-ah, if you really trust me, the come over.  I’m at the house beside Hurricane.  You know that place.

P.S.  not everyone is untrustworthy.  You’ll see it with your own eyes.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“You already know who took it?” Xue Hua asked hopefully as soon as Yunho announced to her that he already knew who took her thing.

“Took what, Xue Hua?” Mei Li asked as she frowned slightly at Xue Hua.  “You didn’t tell me anything about your thing taken by someone,” she added.

Xue Hua bowed her head down in apology.  “I didn’t want to make anyone panic, so I secretly called Yunho-shii.  He’s an investigator,” she explained.  “So, you know who it is?”

“Yes,” Yunho confirmed, nodding slightly.  “Now, don’t even think of lying, my friend will see right through you,” he added.

“Jae-hyung?” Changmin asked in surprise.  “He’s coming here?  I thought you told him not to!”

“I did,” Yunho said simply, “but I asked him to come.  I told him to come only if he trusts me.”

“Then why are you so sure he’ll come?” Changmin frowned slightly, but was startled when the doorbell rang.

Yunho grinned.  “Because,” he started, “I trust him just as much.  Go get it, Min.”

Changmin nodded and walked over to the door, opening it.  Just like what Yunho had said, it was Jaejoong.

“I’m going to kill him,” Jaejoong muttered as soon as he stepped into the house, and took off his shoes.  Changmin laughed a little as he waited for Jaejoong and closed the door behind him.

“Who is he?” Xue Hua asked, looking at Yunho who was smiling a little.

“A special someone,” Yunho answered simply.

Jaejoong walked over to Yunho, followed by Changmin, and stood beside him.  He whispered to Yunho, and Yunho then whispered back, before he nodded in understanding.

“So, who took what?” Xia Zi demanded, crossing her arms in front of her chest impatiently.  “I still have something to attend to, you know!  I don’t have all day!”

“Patience, Xia Zi-shii,” Yunho shook his head.  “Right.  Please return Xue Hua-shii’s sunstone necklace,” he said.

Silence reigned over them, and Changmin blinked a few times.  He was wondering why Yunho didn’t mention the name of the culprit although he already knew who did it.  Was he…?

“Why are you panicking, Ji Han-shii?” Jaejoong asked, looking at her from behind Yunh’s shoulder.  “Is something bothering you?” he asked again, smiling a little.

“Wha- I’m not panicking!” Ji Han protested as the other three girls looked at her.

“Don’t even try to deny it,” Jaejoong shook his head.  “The others remained impassive, but you,” he paused for a while, as if trying to think of the best way to say it, “started to panic.”

Ji Han was about to retort back, but Yunho looked at him pointedly.  “He’s a behavioral analyst,” he stated.  “He can tell if someone’s lying.”

Mei Li turned to look at her.  “Return it,” she demanded, and Ji Han glared at Yunho one last time before the two walked towards Ji Han’s room to retrieve the necklace.

Xue Hua turned around to look at Yunho again.  “Thank you, Yunho-shii,” she bowed at him.  “But… did you really know who it was, or were you waiting for your friend to point it out?”

“Are you doubting my abilities?” Yunho asked with a grin.

“Yes,” Xia Zi answered for her and looked at him pointedly.

“I already knew it was her who took it,” Yunho shrugged.  “It was just fun to corner someone.”

“Oh?  How did you know?” Changmin asked, looking at him in interest.

“You’ve heard her, Min.  She didn’t know Xue Hua-shii put the necklace with her other jewelries in a box, but she accused Xue Hua-shii of being careless because she misplaced a lot of things,” Yunho mentioned.

“But Xue Hua never takes off her necklace,” Xia Zi interrupted.  “And she’s a neat freak, she doesn’t misplace things.  She assumed that because she saw her necklace lying somewhere when she took it off.”

“That’s right,” Yunho grinned.  “She thought Xue Hua-shii deliberately placed it there to hide it.”

Xue Hua’s mouth formed and ‘o’ and she nodded in understanding.  “Thank you for your help, Yunho-shii.  I don’t know what I’ll do without it,” she bowed at him.

“You’re welcome,” Yunho waved his hand dismissively as he grinned a little at her.  “It’s my job after all.  And, you somehow helped me a little.”

“Oh?  How?” Xue Hua asked, clearly confused.

“By having good friends,” he said, smiling slightly.  He turned to look at Jaejoong who was frowning slightly behind him.  “Jae,” he called out, holding onto his shoulder.

“What?” Jaejoong asked as he looked up at him.

“Thank you for coming,” he mumbled, resting his forehead against Jaejoong’s, and smiling softly at him.  “You have seen it yourself.  Her friends care a lot for her.  Not all friends should be doubted.”

Jaejoong looked down again, but Yunho lifted his chin so he was staring straight to his eyes again.

“And you have friends who care a lot for you, unconditionally,” he added, kissing the bridge of Jaejoong’s nose.  “Take a break and look around you.  You’ll see.”

The door to the house suddenly burst open, and Yoochun and Junsu rushed inside, panting harshly as if they had been running three miles.

“Yunho-hyung!  Jae-hyung went missing!” Junsu screeched in panic, then he paused and blinked.  “Eh?  Hyung?  What are you doing here?”

“…”

“…”

“I called him here.”

“Ah!” Junsu squeaked and walked over to them.  “You could have told us first if you’re going here, couldn’t you!?” he shook Jaejoong’s shoulders vigorously.  “You had me worrieeeeeeeeed!” he stretched the syllable as he still didn’t give up on shaking the life out of Jaejoong.

“T- th- then blame Yunho!” Jaejoong protested, trying his hardest to talk while still being shaken.

“Oh right!” Junsu shouted, and went to shake the life out of Yunho instead.  “You could have notified me as well!  Argh!  You two are insufferable sometimes!”

Yoochun walked over and patted Junsu’s back, pulling him away from Yunho who looked like he was going to get cross-eyed soon if Junsu didn’t stop.  Junsu didn’t stop his ranting, and was still lecturing them on wandering without telling others first.

Yunho laughed at the scene, and looked at Jaejoong.  “See?”

Jaejoong smiled in return.  “Yeah…”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

The five had just had lunch in the Hurricane restaurant, and were now walking back home.

Well, not really walking back home, more like taking a bus home.

“We didn’t get much for the payment, but at least we get these,” Changmin said thoughtfully as he eyed the recipes in his hand.  Xia Zi had decided that she needed to thank them somehow, and agreed to share her recipes with them as she said that Yunho had done something for them, and it was included in those special cases she mentioned.

They quickly got on the bus when it arrived, and sat down, taking the empty seats near the entrance.  They were thankful there weren’t many people on it when they got on, so they could sit down.

“Hey,” Yunho started as soon as Jaejoong made himself comfortable beside him.  “I’ve been thinking about this for a while.”

“What is it?” Jaejoong asked, looking up at him.

“I’m actually thankful my father didn’t adopt you back then,” he sighed.  Jaejoong frowned at that, and Jaejoong knew he sensed it, because he quickly kissed his forehead in an apologetic manner.

“Care to tell me why?” Jaejoong asked again, lifting an eyebrow.

“Because,” Yunho grinned, “then this would be considered incest.”

And for the stupid comment, he got himself a whack on the head, a kick on his shin, and a ban from being in a one meter radius from Jaejoong for the next three hours, while Jaejoong moved to sit with Changmin.

End of Trust and Betrayal
