Chapter Six - Don’t Mind Me
Don't mind me
It doesn't matter what you say
I just like the way you sound
And if you turn away
I'll just turn you back around
Don’t mind me, because I will find a way myself.

“Hey Jae,” Seulgi greeted as she walked into class and walked over to the table where Jaejoong sat. The students were whining about unfairness again, but decided that they should drop it since whatever they cooked was usually shared with the whole class anyway.
“Hello,” Jaejoong greeted as he looked up from his book and nodded at Seulgi. “You’re early today,” he added a little teasingly as he ducked to avoid the rolling pin.
“What are we going to make for class today?” Seulgi asked, sitting in her seat and looked at the blackboard. “Steam bun?” she asked, looking at the writing.
“Yes,” Jaejoong answered simply as he flipped the cookbook in his hand to another page. “I’m making some for the boys as well,” he added. “What about you?”
“My mother likes steam buns,” Seulgi shrugged. “I’ll make some for her.”
“Let’s see,” Jaejoong mumbled. “What kind of steam bun does your mother like?” he asked, flipping the cookbook to yet another page.
“Mm… she eats any kind of steam buns,” Seulgi shrugged. “What about the others?” she asked.
“I’m going to make Chinese buns,” Jaejoong said, stopping at a page where the recipe for the Chinese steamed buns was. “The kids like it, especially when filled with sweet bean paste.”
“What about Donghae-shii and Yunho-shii?” Seulgi asked again.
“Um… Donghae liked the one filled with chestnut filling. Yunho likes the one with black bean,” Jaejoong shrugged. “Why? You’re going to give them?”
“No, you are,” Seulgi shook her head.
“Me? Why me?” Jaejoong asked in surprise.
“Because you said you’re giving the others?” Seulgi asked back. “Doesn’t that include Donghae-shii and Yunho-shii as well? They join you at lunch right?”
“I guess…” Jaejoong mumbled.
“How did you know what they like, though?” Seulgi asked curiously. “Did you ask them yourself or something?” she lifted an eyebrow at him.
“No, Donghae asked me to make some for him and his friend, and told me what they like,” Jaejoong quickly denied the accusation. “Then he told me it was Yunho.”
Seulgi nodded thoughtfully. “I guess I’ll make the ones filled with pork. My mother likes it best,” she shrugged, taking the cookbook from Jaejoong.
“Why don’t you make some for Yunho?” Jaejoong wondered. “Don’t you like him?”
“Don’t you?” Seulgi asked back, still looking at the cookbook.
“But this has nothing to do with me,” Jaejoong frowned. “You like him and you shouldn’t think about whether others like him or not,” he added.
“But it’s-“
“No,” Jaejoong shook his head firmly. “Don’t mind me. If I really do, then I will find a way for myself. You don’t have to pull back for me.”
“I’m going to hold it against you,” Seulgi smiled a little in satisfaction. “Now, let’s get working.”
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“Over here!” Junsu shouted as he waved frantically at Jaejoong and Seulgi who were walking into the canteen together while Yoochun tried to make him sit down.
Jaejoong laughed and walked over. He sat in front of Changmin while Seulgi sat on the chair at the side. “Are the two joining us for lunch?” he asked as he looked at the two empty seats beside him.
“Yes, they’re coming soon,” Junsu said, grinning widely. “Wah, you made some steam buns during class?” he asked when he saw the plastic bag.
“Yes,” Jaejoong said as he gave them a big plastic bag with six Chinese steamed buns inside. “They’re filled with sweet bean paste,” he added.
“Thank you!” Junsu said excitedly as he opened the bag. “This is going to be our dessert,” he added happily as he took off the lid of his lunch box, and placed two on it.
Yoochun and Changmin did the same.
“You prepared lunch for them?” Seulgi asked in bewilderment. “Don’t you have to wake up very early to do that?” she wondered, looking at the lunches.
“Not really, I cook them all at once,” Jaejoong laughed a little. “Why, you want one too?” he asked, smiling as he turned to look at Seulgi.
“No, it’s okay,” Seulgi shook her head. “I don’t want to burden you,” she added.
“No, you won’t,” Jaejoong assured her. “I don’t mind the extra work. But if you’re okay, then I’m in no place to force you,” he shrugged.
Soon after, Donghae and Yunho came towards their table, carrying two trays of food that they had just bought from the food counter across the room.
“Hey,” Donghae greeted as he sat down with Yunho.
“Hey,” Jaejoong greeted as he waved at him a little. “Oh, here, for you two,” he said as he took two other plastic bags and handed them to Donghae and Yunho.
Donghae laughed when he saw them. “You still remember?” he asked mirthfully as he looked at Jaejoong who merely grinned triumphantly at him.
“I’m good like that,” Jaejoong joked.
“Thank you,” Donghae said, and Yunho bowed gratefully at him, taking the offered buns.
“You’re welcome,” Jaejoong smiled, and took out his lunch from his bag. Taking off the lid, he took his chopsticks and began eating as the others had started as well.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“So what do you think about him?”
“I told you he’s nice.”
“That’s all? I thought he said you like him.”
“I do. So?”
“Go do something, idiot.”
“Yah, that’s rude!”
“Well, even I made the first move. You should too.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“You better think about it fast then, before he really thinks you like her.”
“I know…”
“You gave that watch to him, didn’t you?”
“How did you know?”
“Because it’s not with you. You never left anything I gave you.”
“Yeah…”
“You’re hopeless.”
“I try.”
Laughter.
“Whatever. Just don’t take too long.”
“Of course.”
