Chapter Seven - Spider Web

“Good morning,” Junsu greeted as he walked sleepily into the dining room where the others were seated already, waiting for breakfast to be served.

As usual, Jaejoong and Yuhan assumed the roles of the cook and the butler, preparing the breakfast and walking around the table to distribute the plates to everyone.

Jaejoong reached out for the tenth plate and paused.  “Is someone missing?” he asked as he looked around and tried to determine who wasn’t there.

“Eun Hye is not here,” Yongchui said, frowning a little as he looked at the empty chair where Eun Hye usually sat on.  “Maybe he’s still sleeping.”

“I’ll go look for him,” Changsun offered as he stood up from his seat and walked off to the staircase.  The others looked at him, but then resumed eating breakfast.

Minutes later Changsun returned to the dining room, a frown on his face.  “I can’t find him anywhere,” he said, shaking his head.  “I tried looking at the bathroom, but he wasn’t there as well.”

The others looked at him, and fell silent, wondering what might’ve happened to him.

“Do you think the murder starts now?” Jaejoong said softly, looking down at his plate while the food remained relatively untouched.  “I have a really bad feeling.”

Yuhan and Yunho both looked at him.

“We’ll go look for him once breakfast is finished,” Yunho announced.  “Go at least in pairs to be safe,” he added, and looked around, waiting for everyone to nod in agreement.

Breakfast was passed in tense silence as they waited eagerly for it to finish so they could go and search the island to find where Eun Hye was.

“Yuhan and I will stay behind to clean up the plates,” Jaejoong said as he turned to the others.  “Su, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to,” he added.

“I know,” Junsu nodded.  “But it’s okay.  I’m going with Yoochun and Changmin.”

Jaejoong nodded in understanding.  “Be careful then,” he warned, and then went to wash the dishes they used for breakfast, along with the dining utensils.

Hojun, Changsun and Yongchui went together, so Yunho joined Junsu, Changmin and Yoochun in searching.  They agreed to search the outside while the three searched the inside.

“I wonder where he is,” Jaejoong said, sighing a little.  “I may not like him, but I don’t want him to die…” he added, frowning as he scrubbed the plate absently.

“Jae,” Yuhan called as he walked over, squeezing Jaejoong’s shoulder.  “Calm down.  It won’t do you any good if you’re a mess,” he suggested.

“I know, but still…” Jaejoong mumbled slightly, putting down the dish into the sink, and taking another one to scrub clean.  “I hope they find him soon.”

“I’m sure they will,” Yuhan said, smiling slightly.  “Don’t worry too much.”

“I’ll try.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Why are we here again?” Junsu pouted as he stood away from the grass field where the grass was long and snakes could be anywhere.

“Because it’s not safe, but we still have to look around here,” Yoochun shrugged as he watched Yunho walking around in the grass while he sat down with Changmin.

“Aish, I know he’s doing this for us, but I’m bored!” Junsu whined.

“Ah, shut it.  It’ll be finished soon anyway.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“So he’s not in any of the bedrooms,” Hojun commented as she walked out of the last bedroom on the second floor, sighing as she did.  “Where else?”

“Well, we checked every room in the first floor.  So that left us with the music room, the room with the gramophone, and the attic,” Yongchui shrugged.

“The room with the gramophone?” Hojun raised an eyebrow.

“Yes, the room is empty save for the gramophone, so we called it that,” Changsun interrupted, explaining it and Hojun merely nodded and waved it off.

“So, where to next?”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“I wonder if they’re finished,” Jaejoong commented as he looked out of the window in the kitchen after he finished cleaning all the dishes, and saw the four boys walking.

“Why don’t you ask them?” Yuhan suggested, drying his hands with a rag before passing it over to Jaejoong who accepted it gratefully and used it.

“Wait,” Jaejoong quickly wiped his hands dry, and walked out of the dining room to the lobby of the mansion, where the staircase was located.

Yuhan followed him shortly after, and the four boys walked into the mansion.

“Did you find him?” Jaejoong asked hopefully, but then sighed when the four shook their heads dejectedly.  “I suppose the three have more luck then.”

Just as he said that, a scream was heard from upstairs.

“What was that?” Jaejoong asked in panic.  He saw Yunho rushing upstairs, and quickly followed him up, closely followed by the four others.

The scream came from the attic, and they quickly got there.  Once they were there, Jaejoong quickly raised his hand to cover his nose and mouth as the smell of fresh and dried blood mixed in the air.

“Stay out!” he directed as he prevented Junsu, Yoochun and Changmin from entering, and entered it with Yunho and Yuhan who quickly looked around.

They finally spotted the three standing in front of a window in the attic, where a giant spider web was.

“He-“

“He’s here,” Yongchui said regretfully, stepping aside to give them full view of the giant web.  “See for yourself,” he added as he looked away.

Jaejoong gasped and quickly turned to look away while Yuhan hugged him and rested Jaejoong’s head on his shoulder, knowing Jaejoong rarely saw murders.

Yunho frowned, and idly wondered how the murderer could do something like this in such a short time span, since some drops of the blood had dried already.

There, at the bottom of the web made out of strings, was Eun Hye, eyes bulging as a look of surprise and pure terror crossed his features, and he was hung from it, the sharp strings digging into his skin, making him bleed while a knife stuck out of his abdomen, right where his gut was.

End of Chapter Seven

It’s short, yet again *gets shot* but I really hope you enjoy this.  The first murder is finally here, and more will come *gets whacked*
