After the incident in which Jaejoong was framed for making a basic mistake, causing the entire research team to be set back for a day, and in which Yunho had cleared his name, he got more and more unguarded around Yunho. The wariness and suspicion that usually wormed into his heart whenever someone else was around disappeared when Yunho was with him, grinning goofily, not at all like the excellent investigator that he was.
And ever since then, his smiles became less and less rare.
“You look happy,” Junsu commented as he sat across from Jaejoong in the dining room, a mug of hot chocolate in his hands.
“Am I not allowed to be happy?” Jaejoong asked back, chuckling as he too raised his mug to his lips to take a sip.
“Remembering something?” Junsu pressed on.
“Yeah,” Jaejoong said, glancing at the desk calendar on the countertop of the kitchen. “It’s that day again.”
“What day?”
Jaejoong was about to answer when Changmin walked into the flat with a bouquet of yellow tulips and handed it to Jaejoong. “It’s from the huge sap,” he said. “He’s out investigating another case, and said he might not be able to come home before late, so I picked this up from the florist.”
“Thank you,” Jaejoong said as he smiled widely. He buried his face within the blooms, and smelled the sweet scent.
“What’s the occasion?” Junsu asked, looking up at Changmin.
“Does he even need an occasion to be cheesy?” Changmin asked as he rolled his eyes.
Jaejoong laughed. “Don’t be harsh on him,” he said. “This is an anniversary gift.”
“Anniversary?” Junsu asked, confused. “I thought your anniversary isn’t until next month.”
“Yeah, it’s the anniversary of the first time I smiled at him.”
Changmin rolled his eyes while Junsu let his forehead hit the table, groaning about sappy, cheesy gits.
