The world's oldest potted plant

Apparently the Kew Gardens in Britain is repotting a Cycad that's at least 236 years old. (It was collected and sent to Britain in 1773.) According to the BBC, Kew Gardens believes this is the oldest potted plant in existence ( Read more... )

You could try writing to a different news source that does accept correspondence (e.g., the New York Times, etc.). We have evidence that the Chicago Tribune prints letters.

Also, I looked around Kew website, and I think you could email pr@kew.org in response to their press release (http://www.kew.org/press/cycad.html). But it's not like it matters to Kew if you correct them. I would send something to BBC. They have a web form for corrections to stories:

Turns out that bonsai are usually considered a "separate category" from potted plants. I call that cheating, but whatever. =D
