Note: This was actually written a week ago, but I forget to post it until now. I still haven't gotten around to Facade, though I've seen a few LPs--my only shift in opinion is that is does seem to demonstrate how scripted and formalized casual conversation can be, but only through how easy it is to break the flow with trolly comments. Before the ( Read more... )

Yeaaah, I've never heard of this game before but I have to agree with you after seeing some videos of it. :X That first trolling video you linked made me LOL, though.

(Also. Just to let you know that it's coming along! ....very, very slowly at the moment...)

Oh hoh... That would be an understatement. :X;;;; /HATES THAT DRILL FOREVER AND EVER

Oh yeah! I was gonna add a background to it eventually, but I...have no idea what that should be. XD;; Like if they should be in some random part of Rapture, or their 'house' or what. Sooo, where do you see them hanging out?

You could put them in front of a window overlooking the waterweed and fish, or somewhere in their house with the big crate loungechair.

Like I said. The most stimulation in this game comes from trolling it.

How can something be "satisfying" if it isn't "fun"? I think video games are just one of many things the designers don't understand. :/

The only reasonable explanation I found was that things like tragic plays can be satisfying and good without being 'fun', but in all honesty I think it's still a cop-out.

Oo, that makes sense. I guess they thought they were creating some great tragedy for the ages, instead of a vignette of two hateful people snipping at each other.

It would have made more sense to just go further into the artsy field and claim the game was meant to be a metaphor for the hopelessness of the human condition or the suffering of mankind or something. And then call it an "interactive medium" instead of a game.

As I said, they called it an 'anti-videogame' and said it was based on the play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe", which apparently also has to do with a bickering couples or something.

Of course, a play also has to give some sort of depth and entertainment to it in order to be decent. I can't say that I enjoyed District 9 in the sense that I left the living room with any lingering respect for my own species, but I had connections to the characters and immersion in the special effects. These two dorks? A sitcom is more immersive.
