I was lounging around at the Triadhouse yesterday evening and I thought I'd give Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty a spin. I don't mind bad writing, I just wish there wasn't so many wordswordswords. My god, does anyone shut up in this game?

Also, what's the deal with the purple bugs? Do those ever get explained?

Well put. We could have had the bomb defuser guy just give us a few lines of backstory on Fatman and mention that he trained him, but oh, now his student is running wild on roller skates and being a terrorist. Twenty seconds at most. We don't need the big honking backstory.

It's also rather badly delivered, in giant chunks of dropped info rather than naturally in conversation or picked up in files/briefs/recordings/whatever (a more natural way of doing things in other videogames).

I can't, I'm probably not going to get to play the game again anytime soon. :P What happens?

I haven't played any of them, I know purely about the series through fandom osmosis.

I can't really 'just wait' mostly because the PS2 is here and I'm leaving the country and going back to the states in a few weeks. But if I get my hands on it, I'll play it.

Ahh okay then... Basically Snake is almost the same way in MGS1. Hence lots of "METAL GEAR???!?" moments XD

Somehow I am not surprised...

I desperately want to, mind you. It is rather fun. I figure if I ever get a PS2 and the game (or it comes out on whatever the future equivalent of Xbox Live is) I'll play it.

OH MAN MGS2 ♥ I'm playing through it for a second time and the long cutscenes don't bother me so much because I know they're coming, I can go get myself a cup of tea while they're on =D

Oh, Vamp. xD Did you ask Pliskin about him on the Codec? I've got a rather nice smut fic about him and Fortune somewhere (found off one of the Metal Gear fic communities, which I avoid mostly because I haven't played 3 or 4 yet.)

If you like the game, I'd suggest playing MGS1 first (I can get you a copy of the game and an emulator so you can play it on PC) then getting back to MGS2. A lot of things will become much more clear =D

I didn't ask Pliskin much, mostly because there was enough wordswordswords already and I just wanted to play the fucking game.

...this interests me greatly. As I said, I won't really be able to play MGS2 until I get my hands on another person with a Playstation 2 (and with as complex as the commands get, it'd be a bitch to play using keyboard), but MGS1 also sounds interesting. I've only seen the bits with Psycho Mantis.

If you use torrents, this is where I got it; if not, I can upload it separately (might take a while, it's a big file) or I'll burn it to a DVD and send it or whatever :3

Oh man MGS2 is like my FAVOURITE one, except possibly MGS4 though that has a few too many words. I love Raiden, he is a parody of himself. LEAVE ME ALONE ROSE I'M TRAGIC AND YOU TALK A LOT WAAAAHH. I effing love Fortune too because WAAAH I AM SO TRAGIC LOOK AT MY MASSIVE GUN ;m;

In fact I think the main thing I love about MGS4 is all the tragic girls with overpowered weapons. I have a total girlcrush on Crying Wolf srsly

Plus MGS2 is a good one because it has all the Otacon/Snake BROMANCE but Snake is still pretty and moustache-less. Hurrr <3

(If you want Vampfic you should try the mgs_slash comm I think. I'm not mucha fan o' Vamp though so I dunno~)

Been through mgs_slash, there is some reasonably good stuff there. I think.

I don't even know what Vamp does, aside from Dolph and Fortune. I just like the guy. I DO NOT HAVE A MUSTACHE KINK WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SHUT UP.
