Hey! Sorry I’ve taken so long to comment, I’ve been in the office all day doing not-so-fun writing :( But having Percy to come back to is never a problem :D
I will admit, your fic made me bawl. I found it incredibly moving, the way you tied the characters into the legend and took it right to the end of Merlin and Arthur’s story with the episodic structure (and that poignant last line). And I loved seeing Brutus pop up as well, and hearing his opinion of the magical ‘two legger’ (as long as he’s got his food and his warm stable, I should imagine he’s very happy). Having Percy get his place at the round table was also wonderful, along with his very Percy like disbelief of course (but triumph too), and Merlin’s title of ‘King’s Own’ was perfect!! Since he really is of course ;)
I hope you don’t mind me linking to this at my journal so other people can find it too.
Oh god I got shivers when I read this and also an achy feeling in my heart. *sniffles* I love the title you gave Merlin: King's Own...it's perfect. I love how you tied everything to the legend: Gwen & Arthur's engagement, the Knights of the Round Table, and Arthur's death and prophesied return. This is really beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.
Oh, that's so sad. I loved the way Merlin was screaming into the storm and saying not fair. Loved that he was so resigned to his fate. At least he got to say goodbye to Percy one last time.
This is utterly breathtakingly beautiful, a mix of happy memories, heartrending sadness and love. Simply wonderful. I am seriously at a loss to explain how gorgeous your writing is, how the last line broke my heart somewhat and how perfectly in-character they are. I'm astounded by the quality of it all.
I will point out three mistakes though (sorry - I'm horrible): Sometimes he cansmell that You're missing a space in Brutus' bit. "unatural is in the storm-y Merlin bit, instead of unnatural. And you've misspelled 'Mordred' as 'Modred' once or twice.
I'm sorry to be nitpicky, but I felt I should point them out, but aside from that this is one of the most gorgeous, perfect things I've ever read.
