Rogue had been sitting in the kitchen, listening to the familiar strains of discord, before she'd gone downstairs to change over her laundry, slip into a pair of jeans and a halter top, and then head for the rec room to wait for the rest to dry.
She stopped in the doorway and watched Brodie peruse for a moment before she started, barefoot and leisurely, across the floor.
It wasn't. She'd learned enough from the likes of Betsy Braddock and Kurt Wagner and Wolverine over the years to parry his ineffectual movements until she could get him to quit batting at her like a deranged kitten with a piece of yarn.
"So," she said, perfectly at ease and easily conversational, tilting her head to one side so a few curls could sweep past her neck. "D'you want me now? Generally, I guess, since right this moment you're kinda angry."
"Because Eden's my girlfriend and I like her a lot, OKAY? Jesus fucking Christ, is that a good enough answer?! I don't want to, and COULDN'T do that to her, alright?"
"What part of 'NOT GONNA CHEAT ON MY GIRLFRIEND' don't you understand?" Brodie said, immediately sitting up. Because he didn't get what the fuck was with her and this mixed signals shit.
"And don't think you're gonna get away with this."
"It was a friendly kiss, Brodie," she said, lifting an unimpressed eyebrow at him over her shoulder. "If I'd been tryin' to get you to cheat, trust me, you'd've known for certain sure."
"Friendly, schmendly, don't think I forgot what you said when it was YOU who got the truth whammy." He stood, retrieving his now empty dixie cup from where it had landed on the floor.
"Brodie," she said, stopping and planting her hands on her hips and looking back to him.
"You could've asked me that question 'bout a lot of people, 'n th'answer- since you threw 'hypothetically' in there?- woulda been yes. Just because I would have doesn't mean I aim to, 'n anyway you can bet your butt after this month? I don't."
"Sugar, I don't lie much anyhow. And you know what?" Her eyes narrowed and she took a step closer to him.
"You deserved it. And you better believe I'm gonna get away with it just fine. We're even. 'n if you somehow get it in that screwed up li'l head that we ain't? I know about the Flash."
She stopped in the doorway and watched Brodie peruse for a moment before she started, barefoot and leisurely, across the floor.
"Mornin'," she offered. No questions.

He scowled at her.

"Mmn-wah," she intoned, and patted his hair and stood up. "Good boy."

The clothesbox only gave him but so many of these things; he didn't need Rogue RUINING one.
