She was out of it. Savannah was touching everyone and she came close to peeling her shirt off when it got hot. She felt funny-- not herself

"I'm always handsome," I promised, frowning a little at the state of her. I had gone to the party for a little while, figuring it'd be like the parties we had back home, but other than a few drinks I had stayed relatively sober. No drugs for me, not with this new body, but Savannah looked trashed.
"Did you eat something, Savannah? At the party?" I slid my arm around her waist, trying to support her a little.
"Almost," I promised, pushing open the door and helping her inside. It wasn't a long walk but when half of the team was dead on her feet, it felt twice as long. "Do you need anything before I help you lay down for the night?"
I nodded and water wasn't such a hard thing to do. "I'm going to have to run and get some from the compound, but I'm not going to be long, I promise."
I kept promising things to her and hoped I was delivering, at least a little. It didn't take long to get the water and I came back, kneeling down a little and handing it to her.
In the time he'd benn gone, Savannah had stripped off all her clothes and had had the sense to make a fire. She sat in front of it with a blanket pulled off of her bed. She was just staring into it. Her face felt shiny and tight and ther hair hung in dried-sweat tangles.
"You make me feel better," she assured him in a dreamy voice. "Oh, Peter. My favorite friend."
"I sure hope so," I said quietly, smoothing her hair back a little. "Are you sure you don't need anything else? If you need to go to the clinic, let me know, okay?"
Her eyes were still glassy as she turned and looked at him. For once she didn't look happy. She just looked blank.
"You can't give me what I need," she said quietly. "But you could come to bed with me. Maybe...maybe if you do...oh, I don't know. I'm just so...I had a lot of fun tonight, I think."
I shook my head slowly. "I don't think you want me to come to bed with you to do anything other than sleep," I warned. "I don't take advantage of girls like that, especially not girls like you."
"Girls like me." She sighed and nodded. Right. Girls like her. Girls like her didn't go to house parties. They didn't take drugs except by accident. They certainly didn't do...the things she had absolutely done tonight.
Savannah reached up and covered her eyes like that might make the problem vanish.
"Would you just hold me, Peter? Come to bed and just hold me? Is that cruel to ask?"
"No," I said quickly, sliding into the bed beside her. "I don't think it's cruel at all. You need a friend right now," I said, tugging her close and stroking her hair. "If I can be that friend, I'm happy to. You've been great to me."
"You're great. Really great." She felt small and all the fun of the night was fast waning and just leaving her feeling hollow and used and stupid. Really stupid. Tim always said she was naive. Maybe she was.
"So are you," I admitted quietly. I stroked her hair as I worked out my thoughts.
"I needed someone after Shari and I fought and even though you barely knew me, you opened up your home and your friendship to me. I can't imagine someone being that open and that giving and you are and it's amazing. Anyone who takes advantage of that is an ass, pure and simple."
"Good," I said, tugging her a little closer. Savannah seemed so naive in so many ways and I worried about her, especially when things like this could always happen.
"If they ever do, tell, me," I told her firmly. "I'll handle it."

"People don't take advantage of me...not as much as you'd think," she assured him, her words slow and soft and sleepy.
