John lay on his stomach atop the tallest boulder, peering down over the side at the equations he'd written there now smearing in the downpour. Absently he trailed his fingers over the rock through the melting ink. "Fat lot of good that did me," he muttered, then noticed a figure approaching along the beach. "Hey buddy!" he called as Leoben neared.
"Ooooh yeah." John drawled his agreement as he turned over to sit up. "Little bastards aren't going anywhere anytime soon," he said, though he was referencing the equations rather than the rocks. "What's up? Why're you out in the rain?"
