Also, <3 Eugene. I can't believe he can keep a smile on his face and keep laughing through all of that. It's so much more than physical accidents and saying "I'm okay". You've made him into a very strong person. And the last line killed me. "All he can say to his dad is 'I'm okay'." - Guh.

thank youu. i just think of eugene as a very positive boy with a bright outlook - he'll always take things lightly, even if they're dark. hee, and thank you for the comment about that line, because i thought of using his saying and i died when i realized i could use it in such a dark context (basically i was excited for my own work which is SUPEROMGAWESOMECOOL /shot).

Can I just tell you that 'First Breath After Coma' is basically my Arnold/Helga theme song? That band is just brilliant.

Also, I have no suggestions for a title for all of these pieces. I don't think I know enough about the whole story yet to think of something that would apply to all the perspectives. :( I'm no help!

haha, that's fine - i can't think of any, either, so apparently i don't know enough about my own story to title it. :'D i might name it after something by explosions in the sky, actually, since the pieces are pretty dark for the most part, but i don't know yet. :)

Part of me can see Harold sending the notes and part of me thinks the HA! gang is too close knit to eventually turn on one another so strongly. I definitely don't see Harold as the kind of person who would actually go and beat Eugene up for being gay. He might leave the notes and be an asshole, but... idk.

I'm also interested in Eugene's mystery boy. The last line makes it sound like it could be Arnold or Sid? Or maybe there's someone else who wears a hat that I'm not thinking of. Harold can be ruled out since the last notes aren't in his handwriting.

I've always thought Sid was the gayest so.... I can believe that. And I also truly believe that Eugene had a big crush on Arnold during the course of the series. XD

I'm sad that Eugene is so torn up about being gay. I hate that it's like this... terrible truth for him instead of something good. Eugeeeeeeene. <333

the thing with harold was sort of an iffy with me, as well, actually. they're a close group, yes, but this is set at a later time, and i can see some of them growing apart as they get older, especially since harold's still a bully. but you are correct - harold would never lay a hand on eugene in this setting. i see harold writing the notes and laughing at eugene's reaction, but not really caring whether he was gay or not

& the pieces aren't really in order and everything sort of jumps around, so it's a little hard to follow (even for me), haha. and i hope someone can figure it out so i won't feel like i'm blowing everything out of the water. xD i want it to be realistic, sort of.

Oh god how did I miss this one??? It's sweet sweet Eugene and his denial and his ablity to laugh the nasty notes away... I'm really taken by this one. There have been depictions of homosexual characters in this fandom before, but rarely such a bleakly true portrayal.

As someone who is not much of a Harold fan, I'm kind of pleased that you vilified him here. I personally don't think it's far off the mark--Harold is a loudmouth jerk sometimes and I would not be surprised if he got worse in high school. Just yesterday I was watching "Helga's Masquerade" where Harold yells across the lunch room, "Oh look, it's Helga with her big dumb billy-goat ears! Don't sit next to me Helga or I might puke!"

wow, thank you so much for your comment. ♥♥ eugene was a very interesting character to write, because he has such a positive and unclouded outlook on life - and i highly doubt his positivity would fade, even in the darkest of situations; that makes him even more interesting, in my opinion. and i'm extremely glad you thought this was realistically portrayed, because it's hard to be realistic in an au setting. heee thank youu. ♥♥♥

harold very much a bully. while i figured wolfgang would begin to grow up into more of a sexual sort of teenager, i really believe harold would remain a bully - possibly become more bitter. personally, i like harold as a character, but yes, he is quite the antagonist. xDD
