My father had a collection of Louis L'Amour westerns. I think he had every one ever written. I don't know what happened to them. I think my brother has them. He also had a collection of "Zane Grey" novels. I bet your sister would like those, too.

Enjoy the wedding! I hope all of your family is fully vaccinated! The Sturgis Rally is going on right now and it will be another super spreader event.

Safe travels, my friend ...

Oh, RATS! I'd decided I was going to check out the Zane Grey novels for her too, thinking she'd likely enjoy Zane G's older fashioned style! But I forgot! Dang! I'll have to check my own old western shelves and see if I can find one or two for her.

I hope at least MOST of them are vaccinated. And that none have gone to Sturgis this year! I am looking forward to seeing most of them, but (as you have experienced) outlooks and opinions differ from mine and Jeff's and we need to sidestep and take a bit of extra care sometimes. Other family members ... I can just try to avoid.

I flew to Houston recently to visit my friend of 44 years, Casey. She has three auto-immune conditions and has been housebound since January. Wherever we went, we work masks and both of us have ben fully vaccinated for months.

Family events are especially dangerous, as often there are mixed political views. Be safe! Enjoy!

"...as often there are mixed political views" Oh, my goodness, are there ever "mixed" views. But I'm hoping we can keep things cool and just touch base together to share love and caring. My brother and sister-in-law from Canada were talking about coming for the wedding too. I'm not sure, whether they will dare run the health and border-crossing issues that are now possible again.

I've missed so many family events over the last few years. And I think you know all-too-well the kind of issues and feelings are fully involved. I've pretty much decided to cut the last day from our trip and come home Monday instead of Tuesday. We'll see what really transpires by this time next week--or another day or 2 along from then.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! For another reader. :)
I am one book away from my total of last year, which was small. So I am glad I am doing better this year. :)

My best to the bride and groom. :)
Hugs, Jon

Congrats on arriving on the cusp of reaching the edge of last year's total accomplishment! Isn't it a nice feeling?

Usually, I have no difficulty staying ahead of my Goodreads.com goal for number of books read during the year. For some reason, this year I have been one or two books (or FOUR!) behind schedule most of the time. Finally, I was "on schedule" last time I listed my just-finished book. And I even dropped the goal number a bit this year, expecting to be more distracted than usual. I think I'm way too distracted and maybe even stressed to let go and just relax with a book as much as I usually can. But I've definitely enjoyed reading this year. Some VERY good books, and our library system is GREAT!

Thank you for your good wishes for my niece and her fiance! I'll pass them on.

I would love to have another 12 hours in the day.
6 for sleep and 6 for reading. :)

Hah! That sounds like a fair and equitable division of the wished-for extra hours. I'd vote for that ticket! ;-}

Good night, Jon!
