Deep Freeze Morning

Jan 30, 2019 07:27

Last night, I decided that this morning I'd do a "This is what ELSE you sometimes get with that pretty, white sparkly stuff" post. This morning, I find that my friend thespian15 already did a fine job of listing out some details. (If, by any chance, you don't know thespian15, I recommend friending him. He's fun.) But I do want to expand on one of his statements ( Read more... )

Yesterday, my office manager heard me say I was running low on gas and told me I better fill up the tank and not trust all would be well this morning if I didn't do so. I was out at 7pm last evening to accomplish this task. I've never experienced such cold. I had to take off my glove to push buttons at the gas station ... it was literally painful within seconds ... The wind was especially cruel. The grocery store had closed many of its areas and sent people home.

I have to work today and I'm gearing myself up to go. I'd rather stay home as I am now ... sweats and a hoodie and two afghans covering my lap. Georgie was pleased I covered him with a blanket last night as well.

If you go anywhere today, be careful, Val!!!

Thanks for your concern, Neil. Maybe MyJeff would pick up milk on the way home tonight. I can do without milk for one afternoon/evening. The rest of the grocery list can wait a few days.

Maybe if I ask really really sweetly . . .

Oh, my goodness... That is some very scary weather you have there.

Do take care. I hope the extreme cold soon lifts.

This is very uncomfortable weather. The north and west walls of my house are radiating cold this morning. They seem to be saturated with it. It's minus 23 F (minus 30 C) this hour, but the winds seem to be still right now, so no discernible wind chill factor. Our forecast high for the day is minus 1 F, which means things are better. Hopefully, tomorrow we go to 20 F above; and an unbelievable 45 degrees F (7 C) is predicted for SUNDAY with showers possible!!!! Crazy!

Schools across Minnesota are mostly closed again today. I think the Post Office is planning to resume deliveries here, though the "Service Alert" is still posted for other areas of the country.
