That's it. That's the answer everyone's looking for. He was a sick fucking psychotic killer - just look at the new videos/pictures he sent to NBC. There's no one to blame but his fucked up mind.

Yeah, no kidding. I couldn't believe I heard at least 3 "professionals" state that claim like it was the obvious answer yesterday.

A metal detector is a false sense of security and is fucking annoying. They just need better planning in response to violence on campus and maybe increased security personnel/cameras.

There will always be crazy people. There will always be school shootings and violence, but with smart planning they hopefully can reduce the severity and frequency of them.

Well, there's the rather obvious scenerio that if you have a gun, and I don't, you can go on a killing spree and all I can do is hide behind a desk and hope I don't die today.

If you have a gun and I do as well, when you decide it's killin' time, I have two choices. I can pull my gun on you and hope that you decide maybe you'd rather live after all, and if you decide to go on a murderous rampage, I can stop you...with a bullet. Very persuasive, bullets are.

If there are going to be madmen with guns, why not let the sane folks have them too?

Frankly, I don't like the idea of having armed security all over the place either. One of the things about gun culture in US is that the people who tend to have them (as in, a lot of them) and carry them, tend to be the people who raise their kids to respect guns ( ... )

Why have security at all then? Why have police? Everyone should just carry their own heat and make their own judgment call on when to use it and how.

There's no systematic way of clearing people to be permitted to bring a gun to school because they "respect the gun."

I'm not saying turn schools into a police state, but to revise their security to ensure they have adequate coverage and be routinely trained on gun shooting scenarios.
