I was reading an LJ discussion somewhere about interracial relationships - probably something to do with the daily_deviant blowup (kudos to the mods there for fixing the problem). if "interracial" always means "White plus one", it risks becoming an image of White people indulging in the "exotic", mirroring the long, ugly history of White conquerors abusing women of colour.

Isn't this the central conflict in this racial discussion - history vs idealism? Whether the representation perpetuates badness or is a proposal for the future?

Today I thought about UtopiaCan anyone answer these questions? Why write an episode called "Utopia"? How does this episode work with what one generally thinks about utopia? Why put this episode in this season ( ... )

Exactly.

Oddly enough, though I'm bisexual, the thought of a promiscious, bi(or omni)-sexual never worried me. I was even looking forward to it.
