I got a cold on Wednesday or there abouts. Thursday, I tried to get my contract materials back to Powerset by fax, but no luck. Eventually, I took them to kinko's and scanned them all in and made an Automator script that could combine pdf's into a single document and e-mailed them back ( Read more... )

Explain to me what a "brief summary of the Silmarillion" actually means. It seems...impossible.

Hm, the movie sounds intriguing. I should very much like to go see it, and I'll let you know what I think.

It means I did only the Quenta Silmarillion proper, and the Ainulindalë, left out all the Men except Beren, and only spent 30 or 40 minutes on it :p

I made a list from memory: I think I included only about 24 people.

I love the Silmarillion. Did we geek-bond over that? If no, we should have. Summarizing it actually works pretty well, if you pick one section and tell it well. In fact, you might even be able to change other peoples' opinions of the book from 'unreadable trash' to 'unreadable amazing stories'.

Did you buy the Children of Hurin? I haven't yet.
