Yesterday I told my co-workers a story about a unicorn named Hazletop that lives in Unicornia which has a Bon Jovi cover band named Psycho Panda Killers. There was also a magical fountain, and kama sutra-loving woodland creatures. And a missing house that turned up in Macy's. And I don't remember what else. I think I was posessed.

Who knows, any or all of those elements may end up in my story. :p

Here's some other stuff that I remember about that story: An all-night diner where a vampire in a Jesus disguise made an appearance, followed by Elvis (the real one or an impersonator? we may never know), and a plate of never-ending french fries; a motel with a shower that has a magical portal to Unicornia; a store in Unicornia that resembles H&M rhR can run your Uni-credit to see how many Uni-points you've accrued; a beach that steals bits of your soul and replaces it with unicorn soul; a stand-up comic gryphon; a "horny" unicorn; return of the shape-shifting vampire . . . and that's all I remember again. :p

Wow, it sounds like a trippy dream. Hey, my NaNo has lots of dreams in it. Can I steal this? (I'm planning to use a dream every time I need to bump up my word count. :p)

The "horny" unicorn is my favorite. He or She sounds like a fun character!

Actually, I imagine unicorns as being androgynous. That might be fun.

Characters are definitely a good thing to start with :)

Good luck with Nano! And have fun!

I believe I can compete with you on Most Abandoned Novel. I have a novel that I started 10 years ago... and have returned to numerous times since. I never completely give up on it and yet I have no idea now how to continue with it.

Thanks for wishing me luck. :) I am having fun with it. Actually, the story I'm working on for NaNo is one I started when I was in 7th grade or so -- then that computer crashed, I lost it, and never returned to it. So it's being reincarnated about 13 years later. :)

Congratulations on not completely giving up on your Most Abandoned Novel. I hope that someday you're able to decide how to continue it. :)

13 years... OK, I guess you win!

I do really like my novel, particularly the characters, I just have no clue any more what the plot is... Maybe inspiration will strike one day!
