I was once in an ice storm, driving across France at Christmas. We had to get the car up into the hills above Strasbourg in the pitch dark. All the power lines were down. It was the most terrifying journey of my life, but in the morning in brilliant sunshine, with everything coated in ice, I've never seen anything so beautiful - utter magic. Best Christmas ever.
