I'm willing to give Capaldi a little time to settle into the role but it feels like Moffat is much more interested in mythologizing the Doctor rather than letting him have a personality.
When my brother asked whether I thought Peter Capaldi* would be a good Doctor I pretty much said that Capaldi could be a perfectly good Doctor -- if Moffat didn't have any creative control of the series. There were flashes of what Peter Capaldi could, but will almost certainly never get to, do with the character and those just made me wish I was watching a better written show

Logic is never really a strong point in Moffat stories. (And yeah, the dinosaur death was a annoying - he clearly was captivated by the idea of a dinosaur in London and then had nothing to do with it.
