I have more substantive things to say later, though be warned, they'll mostly be of the WTF, RT???? variety. But for now I thought I'd amuse myself by making two lists.
1) Veronica Mars. Her utter lack of character growth and downfall from a survivor and an admirable person to someone I wouldn't want to know, let alone watch on a weekly basis.
Yup.
5) Logan being the only regular character to ever suffer for his mistakes (even Dick gets a free pass).
One could say especially Dick. And why? Because he's amusing! But Logan used to be amusing too. So WTF?
And on the plus side:
1) Logan. The single most compelling character I have seen on any show in some time.
God yes. Why didn't he appear on my list? Maybe because it was so obvious, I forgot to write it. But yes, he's a great combination of actor and writing and serendipity.
Great analysis of Keith. He's NOT a perfect father, and in the past, that's made him a great character. And heh on the cars (but yes) and the Alpaca!
1) Wasting Logan's character by relegating him to emo boyfriend status
Yes! Though, to be fair, they've wasted EVERYONE this season. Including Veronica, who is one note too. And a very distressing note it is.
And yes on everything else too. Especially the non-feminist-iconness of Veronica and the evil portrayal of the feminists. I figured I'd leave that for someone else to fill in. (I thought it might be nessaassen but you work just as well. :) )
and on the good:
3) Richly drawn, complex characters that made me fall in love with this show.
We're not imagining that, right? That really was true, right? I just don't understand how the SAME group of writers can write that and this. (Did Dayna Lynn North make THAT much difference? Because it would appear so.)
And double yes, fingers crossed for either JD landing the Pacific War or something else equally juicy and SOON.
10) The way this show sparks debate about important social issues and reinforces the impact that pop culture and multimedia have on society and its values.Wow,
( ... )
Guh. So far, I agree with both your set of lists, and the sets of lists posted above me. Suffice it to say I'm sure I'd just end up listing the same things, so I'll just be over here, crying in the corner.
I am really, really hoping all the fanfic doesn't disappear, but it seems more likely by the day. Without it, what will we do?

Reread old fic? Wait for people to get over the initial shock and maybe, with luck, feel the need to write more as a form of closure? I don't know, honestly.
Oooh, I agree with everyone's lists thus far, but I'll post my own, even if some of the reasons are repeats:
10 Reason I Hate Veronica Mars
1. Veronica never learns anything and has it stick 2. Veronica and Keith's relationship has been reduced to jazz hands and over the top quips 3. The secondary characters have no storylines whatsoever, and most of them barely have any screentime 4. So many of the situations they create that are ripe for drama are never revisited 5. Horrible things keep happening to Logan, even though he's shown the most character growth of anyone and is, IMO, a better person than Veronica 6. Little to no emotional fallout from any of the major events that occur 7. Terrible attention to detail and continuity 8. Sort of a continuation of #7, but Weevil's hate for Logan this season after the two clearly came to having a respect and understanding for each other after last season 9. Getting so deeply involved in another show/ship. I said I'd never do it after the mess that was Alias and yet, here I am
( ... )
Friended you back. I feel Iike I've gotten to know you through your comments. :)
YES on Weevil's awful comments about Logan this season. Just... ugh.
And:
10. The show didn't get canceled after S2, or, alternatively, after 3.9. Either one would have allowed me to actually miss the show and yet not hate the ending.
I know! If it had been cancelled after S1, I would have been heartbroken. If it had been cancelled after S2, I would have been sad. By 3.9 I could see the downhill slide but hope it wasn't so, and the episode was great, with emotion and action, almost classic VM, so that would have been kind of perfect.
Realistically, I wish the CW had not picked it up for the back 9 this year. 3.13 would have been a painful place to leave things, but I would have felt some closure.
And YES on all your choices, really. I hope people aren't burned out on writing fanfic. I know I plan to write one more. Can't promise beyond that. But there's a future fic I need to write, if only for myself.
On any other given day, I could easily list dozens of things, but right now all I can do is stare at a blank screen. I think that's primarily b/c everyone seems to have mentioned all the things I love(d) and all the things I hate. So, I'll list silly, random things.
I guess, mostly I loved... Veronica's intelligence Logan's snark Lilly flashbacks Keith's parenting Mac's wit Wallace's devotion the fact that I could NOT figure out either season's mystery the use of music in this series how accurately RT & crew depicted today's American high schooler the weekly cliffhangers how passionate LoVe was and how fleeting...
Now, I'm left with a bitter aftertaste because Wallace is gone LoVe didn't end at Spit & Eggs I can guess every guilty party in the MoTWs (and arcs) the most uninspired love scene was that featuring Logan & V in 3.1 the music budget has been cut.
There's more, of course, but I'm getting too depressed listing them.
Those aren't silly, random things at all. Veronica's intelligence used to be a delight, back when it wasn't fawned over by all grownups and felt like the real thing. And Logan's snark was so much fun. And yes, the music was great!
Sorry it got you depressed to make the list. I think because I started with the things I hate (a/k/a venting) and then went on to the things I loved, I ended up feeling kind of happy. Sort of an up ending, if you will.
