Okay, you seriously need to get out of my head! LOL. Oh, wait, stay in and continue to articulate so damn well -- a hell of a lot better than I could -- exactly what I'm seeing. It's all heartbreaking so, because it WAS good. Because we fell in love with it, "warts and all."
Oh, well. Thank you. I kind of love you right now for this. :)
Yes, it's so damned heartbreaking. It just feels so UNNECESSARY. I want to send RT to Writer School. Oops, too late.
I kind of love you right now for this. :)
Aww. :)
I'm so glad we're on the same wavelength. And we switched from hope to, um, not-hope at the same moment. Wild, in a way. Though since it was for the same reasons, maybe not so wild?

LOL. Yes, I know. I think, because we feel in a lot of the same ways about the show, it was inevitable. I would LOVE to have some hope (and, in fact, there's a tiny little seed of it in there somewhere still), but the way it's all been crushed with every spoiler revealed, I am just petrified to feed it again. :)
I do still try to interpret each new blow (spoiler) as something potentially good and leading to the reunion. I am, clearly, pathological. LOL. But it's getting harder and harder, and the heartbreak is beginning to take its toll.
Anyway, thank you for being my emotional support in all this. :)
I agree with pretty much everything here, though I think I'm more hopeful of an actual arc this season, much more so than I was after Donut Run (which is why that's still the episode I hate the most
( ... )
I'm glad to hear you feel much the same. But though I agree that Donut Run was a bizarre gotcha of an episode that basically shot the entire Duncan/normal/not normal emotional arc in the foot and then stabbed it for good measure, the difference here is that after that point, Duncan was GONE, taking his dumbass ill-conceived, badly executed storylines with him. This season, the only turning point is that Veronica and Logan are no longer together. This may be good for Logan, he may remember what it's like to have self-esteem and a life separate from her, but color me skeptical about Veronica and her theoretical arc.
What really bugs me, though, is the squandered emotional connection to the cases that, to me, seem to be right there under their noses and yet they just ignore them in favor of cheap dramaYes, it's maddening. Especially re. the rape arc, because when I first heard about it sounded like a tailor-made chance for Veronica's issues to play out. And yet... nothing. Nada. Zip. Just one single conversation with Parker that
( ... )
I think that the difference for me is that Veronica's arc was killed dead in DR. Here it's suffered a setback, but it's not dead, and even if it should continue into a fourth season (on TV or in fic), it can still continue
( ... )
Well, said, and I can't help but agree that there's something missing in Veronica this year, and the issues you're suggesting make the most sense. She's not trying to do something that most of us can relate to, or really want to relate to.
I wonder if someone should really tell RT to get his head out of his ass and give Veronica something to care about that will resonate with the audience. If it doesn't happen, then what's left of a title character that everyone wants to bludgeon with a baseball bat.
Ha! Yeah. That sums up fandom sentiment, doesn't it?
I think so, and well, that's a terrible sign. I'll just look to Logan's emo stance as one way to keep going (though why I'm looking forward to Logan sulking I can't tell.
Yeah. I agree with, well, pretty much every word you wrote here. Add to all this the fact that I think the gender politics this season have been pretty offensive, and I have a show that I have NO IDEA why I'm still watching. Except for the fact that I can't stop watching.
I've flip-flopped a couple of times again. But...I've read some spoilers for upcoming episodes and I can't say I've been pleased with anything I've read. Again, I think I'll tape and check reaction posts before I actually watch. So keep posting!
Heh, well, today's spoiler had the opposite effect on me. Not hope that this will be good television, exactly, but that at least the one person I most like won't be left out in the cold, all emosleeves and sad. But maybe we should take this to the LoVe Shack spoiler forum? I'll go post my contrarian view there.
BTW, I'm guessing that tonight's ep won't be too bad.
Yes, yes and yes. I couldn't agree more and I really don't have much to add, other than how RT and the rest of the writers are unable to see what is so obvious to the fans. Perhaps when they're conceiving these storylines, these underlying issues are playing out in their heads. Unfortunately, they're not doing so on the screen. And if you have to explain the storyline and characters in interviews, then you are NOT DOING YOUR JOB.
At this point, I have no expectations for the remainder of the season, and what I believe is likely the series. It's such a shame that they squandered so much potential.

It is indeed. Ah well, at least Logan's still adorable. Written well AND played well.
