Sock Week: Favorite Patterns

Nov 29, 2006 11:05

Now that we have intrigued each other with our Sock FO's (which by the way, you can still post pictures of), I think perhaps we should talk patterns.

What are your favorite sock patterns?  Easy, difficult, patterned, plain...we're looking for them all!  Include links to the website if they're online, or Book/Magazine titles if they were found ( Read more... )

Man, to be honest, I haven't even tried socks yet! But after seeing the fo's and reading all of your excellent advice, I need to give it a whurl!

I have a super book called The Ultimate Book of Knit Socks, 9 Fun Projects! The book has patterns for the beginner through advanced and I think some of the patterns could be altered to fit anyones style!
Thank you all for giving me the courage to finally crack the Sock Code!

I love jaywalkers, they look so difficult, but are really simple. They were enough to keep me interested in knittinge them, even after I turned the heel and picked up the gusset. I think I'm ADD, so this makes a big difference.

-> I have no idea how to make it a linky so go here.

Also, Nacny Bush's book, Knitting on the Road (Spiral-bound), was really helpful when I first started out. She gives great instructions. Oh, the one problem with jaywalkers is that the pattern assumes a lot of prior knowledge. This may not be the greatest newbie sock, so have some resources if you try to knit this one straight out of the gates.

Check out Nacny's book here (haven't tried any of the patterns tho, so don't shoot me if they suck/ are ugly)http://www.amazon.com/Knitting-Road-
