Prologue //
First //
The hall was filled by laughter and merriment, as music rung throughout the hall, easing everyone’s heart of trouble and other matters as wine and food ran around with joy. Entertainers come to the middle of the room as distinguished guests and members of the palace court sits around the hall lining the wall, clowns prancing around with their jokes, choirs with cheerful songs that lulled everyone to a small hum, dancers from all sizes come and show their brilliant moves for the joyous audience. New year has come with a happy note.
Queen Jaejoong sat on the edge of the room, her beautiful jade green robe sparkle brilliantly under the lanterns hung high in the ceiling, while her peridot-embedded tiara and necklace gracing her snow-like skin with dazzling charm. Her podium was decorated with beautiful serpentines like her throne, adorning her lucid beauty even more.
The princess sat next to her, like an angel sitting next to the goddess. With long robe of sapphire blue covering her shoulder to toe, her golden skin that peeked from her neck and hands made a beautiful statement of her female body, usually hidden under her war armors. Her long, jet black hair were long and straight, let loose and fell to the ground instead of being tied to a bun, ready for her helmet. Her small turquoise earrings and bracelets was twin with her mother, both smiling and enjoying themselves on the party as much as everyone else, though with higher dignity and air of elegance.
Junsu and Junho sat silently near the princess, a few steps behind her. Their simple brown robes were plain and unadorned, yet however their ears were pierced with a small garnet on the right ear, a vow of loyalty to their princess who adorned them with the gem back when they were still little children and the queen who took them in as orphans.
The four nobles was seated at a precise side of the room on a raised platform, allowing them full view of the enjoyment unraveling in front of them. However, as the world seemed to revolve around them, their mere presence brought up the image of heavenly beings, gazing at the earthly pleasure from their divine peace. Different from everyone else who accepted the aura as a blessing for them to continue on the night of joy, Yunho was struck in awe, his mind perfectly blank as he gazed at one single object. His brother nudged his ribs again, lost count of the times he had to do that to bring his supposedly more matured older brother back to the grounds.
“Stop looking at her like that. You’re a prince, at least act more like one!”
“I’m a guy, Yoochun. And I’m sorry to remind you again, that over there is one girl I cannot get out of my mind for probably forever and it is legal by the earth and heaven law that a boy and a girl get together.” Yunho’s answer was definite and steadfast.
“May Lachesis furls my thread longer to see the end of this.” Yoochun exclaimed, he sighed hardly into his wine cup.
“May Aisa bless you with a sweet cut, but our thread will be longer than yours will ever be.” Yunho replied back, a sinister yet hopeful prayer as to counter his little brother’s prattle. He ignored Yoochun’s banter and returned his gaze to his newest object of adoration, the princess, who throughout the night haven’t given him one single gaze as much as he can notice, or do she realize that it had been 3 hours since a pair of eyes locked at her.
Being the prince, of course Yunho is no normal bachelor. He was finely educated in ways of politics and military and raised in the most upbringing family in his country, the king’s family. As an inner member of the royal family of the empire, he has weight on his shoulders heavier than three mountain ranges dropped on him since the day that he was born. Those overbearing responsibilities have tempered and molded him into the fine, handsome, muscular young man that he is now.
Blessed with the physique quite of an Adonis and the face carved by angels, he was quite the charmer with both ways of the gender though of course, he was not interested in the same line of sex he was born with. Ladies has been well-known to drop dead on his feet and men worshipped him for the qualities in him that they wished they had. And as every royal prince was brought up with, he’s no mere simpleton at that. By the age of nine he had solved one of his kingdom’s biggest economy crisis in 60 years, and cleared the murder case that had been haunting the kingdom for ages. Needless to say, he’s the full package.
And that may be the only logical reason why he was so inflamed with the princess. No mere human, or even Serpentines as he founds out on the streets, can look at him and not continue gazing. But this princess actually runs away from him, in cold ice movement! He was perplexed, intrigued, and curious at the seemingly fragile lean tall figure, sitting in the edge of the room approximately 10 steps from him. With one move, he could slide his way over there and release all his intoxicating moves, but somehow the simple gleam of sapphire killed all his bravado and for the first time, he felt helpless facing a female.
“YUNHO!” A harsh whisper on his ear, again, brought him back to his senses. His brother was already standing, a velvet cage in his hand. He facepalmed himself for forgetting and quickly stood up. Together, they walked to the center of the hall as everybody’s focus brought the hall to a silence.
“Today, we have brought an animal native to our plains, playful and cheery in nature, but very aggressive if provoked.” Yunho’s talking charms brought every person in the room inches forward to the velvet-covered cage his brother’s holding. He smiled, his tongue has done him good again. He turned to the edge of the room, The Queen looked interested as her eyes gleam in a mischievous yet elegant curiosity. Junsu and Junho inched forward too, but then he realized it was to flank the princess, knowing what danger he may held to their precious princess. The person in the topic, though, is really excited, as she clasped her hands in anticipation and for the first time she looked Yunho again with big eyes filled with a childish wonder. Yunho felt he skipped a heartbeat, but then he realized the silence was killing everyone, so he continued.
“Please be very careful as this animal has quite some ability in show for you, held quite unimaginable for some. This is no mere trick or fake, this is as real as it gets. Held your breath for…Pikachu!” He raised the velvet cover in a dramatic way, as everybody gasped in wonder and really held their breath in terror and amazement.
The cage was empty.
Just as hums started to breed on the hall discussing whether the animal was supposed to be invisible or not, Yoochun muttered something very deadly.
“I think it escaped.”
And a shriek from a shocked woman who just got literally shocked at a side of the room proved the fact.
Chaos soon ensued, as the animal started zooming with incredible speed around the hall and everybody tried as hard as they can to avoid the flash. Thunderbolts were thrown all around the hall, shocking the walls or even some sorry hairdo of a few unlucky souls. Yunho and Yoochun quickly tried to catch the agitated Pikachu, assuming their stances. As a yellow flash zooms by, Yoochun leaped at it.
“Yaaaah!”
And landed with a loud crash on an another guest’s dinner plates. Yunho facepalmed.
The zooming flash went to his direction after hitting the wall. He quickly took his pose and lunged at it.
“Yaaaah!”
Though his acrobatic performance were perfect, the little thing managed to zoom him by under his feet, and he fell flat on his back. It would have been funny if the riot was paying attention. Sadly, the act goes unnoticed as everyone continues to run around the room in frantic terror, which only agitates the little mouse more.
As the yellow shadow headed straight in a direction it doesn’t even know, an obstruction stood in its way and the little thing quickly attacked, leaped at the foreign object.
“Aaaargh!?”
Which happens to be Yoochun’s hair. Entangled in the mass, the little thing was spooked to hell, and so it does the thing it does best when it’s scared.
“CHUUUUUU~!!!!”
“NYAYAAAAAAARGH!!!”
As massive currents of thunder zapped Yoochun and sending him to unconsciousness, Yunho was already creeping behind the mouse, ready to pounce on it when suddenly
“SEIZE!”
And the whole room stopped moving.
Anger is apparent in the Queen’s words, her eyes were already bright peridot and her whole body still like a rock. Her gaze ruptured everyone in their silence and sent terror over their hearts. Even the little mouse seemed to know what was happening.
The chaos was simply too displeasing for her, and finally she broke her patience. Her scales would have made itself apparent unless for one voice, a voice that had been ringing ever since the chaos started, only to be swallowed down by the riot and remained unheard until the whole room fell into silence. A voice that soothed everybody down.
“Teeheehee. Teeheehee. ”
The Princess was giggling bordering crazy.
Everybody soon chuckled a small laugh, and it gets louder as they see the forms they were in after the short chaos. Robes were tattered, hairs were spazzing out everywhere, the higher-ups of the country looked like a bunch of evicted criminals, and they laughed like little kids, realizing how silly they had been.
The Queen sighed. She could never be angry when her daughter is doing that. She exhaled her anger with a smile, her peridot eyes slowly turned back into the serene jade she always wears. Junsu and Junho emits a small laugh on their accord, before returning their senses in alarm to their princess’ lap.
There, the small Pikachu found peace and slept.
Changmin giggled more. Her eyes mismatched and twinkled.
Yunho felt his heart died from over-cuteness.
