nah, I think 25 is a bit young for that. it's just this cruel world (or some parts of it anyway) that has ridiculous double standards when it comes to the sexes.
like i have some really weird stories about people i went to school/college with and sometimes it just makes me want to scream.
I'm glad my grandmas and my mom were slightly different, in saying "take care of the family you have already" and not pushing me to marry anyone. I know that, especially on my Filipina side (I'm Filipina-Puerto Rican), there's a crazy amount of pressure to marry someone who is either Filipino or white. Someone different is usually okay, though, as long they are tall (seriously) and have money and a job to brag about. My mom had to coach us on responses before we went to a party with a bunch of relatives; the job/money situation question gets asked a lot.
Ha! There isn't a huge amount of pressure on me yet but my parents have started *looking*.
I'm Indian ethnically and the 'marriage market' is a incredibly large and ugly thing. Some of the stuff I hear is crazy shit. Like one of my friend's 18 year old sister got engaged to a guy 10 years older than her. Now if you meet and fall in love I guess you can't help age so thats ok. But this is a guy meeting a very immmature (from what I'd heard about her) girl who looks a lot younger a couple of times and 'agreeing' to marry her. I don't care if he was a 'good catch'. There's something not quite right there.
I'm glad your mom/grandmas are cool with it though. I think my parents desire to have grandchildren within the next few years overrides any social norm though so thats marginally better. Marginally

Jeez, sometimes it's like they think I need to be married to validate my existance or something and I so cannot be bothered with that at the moment.
