Y'know, everyone could just come to Goldenrod, 'less you want to get stuck in Azalea for another four months.

And that way you don't have to deal with the cave. Unless for some reason everyone wants to go there.

Mamoru is interested in the gym but I think it would be easier to just go to Goldenrod then backtrack.

Nothin' saying he has to go in order, either. Goldenrod's the only gym I've challenged so far. His team's gotta be strong enough to take her by now.

I'll have to discuss it with him but it would be faster to cut straight through to Goldenrod. I think the distance is pretty much the same either way to Azalea.
