His face is lit by the flickering a nearby campfire.]I succeeded, mostly, in freeing a few animals from the zoo. I think the power in the city is going now though, or at least in that area. If you come near Chicago, there may be some hungry animals

It was a small something.

So many of them were already dead of starvation.

It was heart-breaking, but at least some of them live. I do fear that not all of them are... good animals.

I don't think many of them are carrion eaters, and these people are... long into their rotting. [He makes a face, because the stench was awful.]

No doubt they will hunt what they can. They are wild animals.

That was my point. How are you? What are you eating, speaking of that? I've found some provisions but they won't last for any sort of journey.

I have taken things from the shops that specialize in food. Cans are heavy, but there is plenty of dried food as well.
