If all it took was a near-death experience (another one) for Charles and Erik to get this right, I will take it.

I've tried to include the following bonuses: hurt/comfort, hand holding, unconsciousness, carrying, collapsing, turning into touch, and confessions of love.

ZOMG! It's like a smorgasbord of Emma goodness! I was hopeful about getting one or two, but this? /swoons/ Oh, you've won my heart with all of this lovely sweetness.

Thank you so much for all the work it must have taken to craft a tale that fit all of this in so deftly. It never felt forced and I enjoyed every bit of it.

I love the premise and think this is a great fix-it bunny that doesn't deny Charles' injury or the hurt of their divorce, but still gives me the happy ever after I crave. Wonderfully done!

Fave bits:
One of Charles' hands is curled into a tight fist, and when Erik opens it, he finds Charles is holding a twisted metal rose-petal--or what Erik meant as a rose petal, mostly it just looks like a curved piece of abstract art ( ... )

Most definitely happy!

And as a seasoned pinch hitter myself I really appreciate you 'stepping up to the plate' for me.

This is great! It's nice to see a piece where both of them are forced to acknowledge that there are more important things than being right.

Very nicely written--Erik's desperation and need to rescue Charles are so vivid here, as is their love for each other, always. And it makes perfect sense that something like this brings them back together--having to face the idea that they could lose each other permanently makes the need for compromise, the need to be together while they can, more important than anything.

Here, have awesome-Erik icon. :D

I love it when these two have a happy ending, even if it isn't perfect. I like that even if they have ideological differences, they can still find a common ground for the better of mutantkind (and each other).
