Er, better make that buckshot, not birdshot. Birdshot won't even penetrate a coconut outside of a few meters. Now buckshot, OTOH... visualize a cloud of 20 or so .25-caliber pellets in the case of no.1 buck, or 12 .36-caliber pellets in the case of 000.

The hole in the pumpkin at the beginning is from a slug; the first four rounds are 000, followed by some birdshot. The birshot just kind of sandblasts the pumpkin...
