Okay, so. My roommate and one of my suitemates are taking the journalism class I took last semester. So I offered them my book ( to share, because you don't need it everyday or anything ) for 40 bucks because even a used copy costs about 70 bucks at a store ( Read more... )

...Argh.

I hate it when people do that.

SHE is still getting a discount, so she should be bloody grateful.

I know! I mean, sure, I could go sell it back and get whatever for it not really care at this point, but that means she'll have to buy the book for 70 bucks. Which is ridiculous, you know? But she's apparently missing the part where she's saving a bunch of money buying it from me.

Grr.

Just tell her, "You know, you're right. I would get less at the book store. But if it's such a reasonable price for me to get, I may as well just go sell it there."

Or offer it just to suitemate who sounds sane? She'll still get a discount.

Right, so you're supposed to sell it to her for like $10? At my school, if you sell a $70 book back to the bookstore you'd get maybe $7 in return, and then they'd put it on the shelf for $55 or something. If your bookstore operates like mine, she'd be getting a better deal buying it from you no matter what. I don't know what the problem is :/ in fact I would think she'd feel better buying it from you and knowing she's helping out your school expenses. Selling back to the bookstore is a rip-off.

It really is a ripoff at the bookstore. I've yet to buy a textbook from our school bookstore this semester because they have ridiculous prices.

And from what I've seen after some research, you won't even get it for less than 35 bucks on the net. And that's not including shipping and handling, too.
