…united in one soul.
A son of Zeus will walk among you unnoticed, his valour insurmountable lest from an emerald drawn. In armour of lead, he will triumph. Your freedom will come from the sky.
Olympus awaits you.
“Do you really think a sacred site is the best place for us to do this, Clark?”
“Come on, Chloe. You haven’t experienced Greece until you’ve done it in the remains of a goddess’s temple.” He backed her up against a crumbling column and reached under her skirt.
She gasped dramatically. “Clark!”
“Don’t worry; no-one can see us, there’s not another living soul for miles.”
“I’m pretty sure there’s a law against this,” she protested. “I don’t want to get caught by the authorities!”
“You know I’m more than able to get us outta here before the cops arrive, assuming they even do.” He lowered his mouth to the side of her neck, and she inhaled as he pressed gentle kisses on her pulse point.
“Okay, forget the cops,” she whispered. “If nothing else, aren’t you the least bit superstitious that this might have serious repercussions?”
Clark’s head shot up. “You are still on the pill, right?”
She rolled her eyes. “You know what I mean. We’re from Smallville. With all the supernatural shit that we attract, an unplanned pregnancy would be the least of our worries.”
Clark sighed. “You honestly think something weird will happen if we have sex?”
“If we have sex here,” she said stubbornly. “In the ruins of Athena’s temple. And she was always a bad one to piss off. I mean, look what happened to Troy after Paris gave the golden apple to Aphrodite instead of her.”
“Come on,” he wheedled. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
She shrugged. “I dunno; some really bad luck for the Greek people?”
Clark snorted. “I think they’ve already had some really bad luck. There must have been a mass orgy in here if those bailout terms are any indication.”
“I just have a really bad feeling about this.”
“We didn’t fly all this way to chicken out.” He smoothed his palms over her bare bottom and sank to his knees. “And you’re always telling me I need to loosen up, that I take everything too seriously. ‘Live a little,’ you said. Well, here I am, living a little.”
She sighed. “Fine. But make it quick.”
“That’s something I never thought I’d hear you say.” He ducked his head under her skirt and she felt the tip of his tongue upwardly trace the seam of her sex.
“Oh God,” she moaned, her knees trembling. “That feels amazing.”
He smiled against her intimate flesh. “Still want me to make it quick?” he whispered, the light puffs of air from his mouth heightening her already heady state of desire.
“Don’t you dare.”
“Thought not.” His tongue traced a languid trail up and down her cleft, burrowing deeper with every stroke. Chloe groaned and parted her legs wider, her voice rising as his lips gently sucked her aching nub.
Screw Athena, she thought, throwing caution to the winds. Clark was right; she needed to relax and enjoy herself a lot more. And with Clark’s mouth doing wonderful, wicked things to her, that was one brief she was happy to fill.
“Don’t stop,” she complained as he got to his feet.
“If I don’t get inside you soon, I’m going to explode.” He unbuckled his belt, shoved his pants and down and entered her in one swift move.
“Oh God, yes,” she hissed. Passion built swiftly within her as he thrust, his lips claiming hers as they made love. She was faintly aware of a tingling sound, but didn’t pay it too much attention because she was about to come, and damn if it wasn’t the best build-up to an orgasm she’d ever had.
The tell-tale knot of need unravelled and spiralled through her with incredible intensity. She screamed as she exploded in ecstasy, her feelings mirrored by Clark as he came at the same moment she did.
There was a blinding flash of light and a sudden loud clap of thunder, startling them both. Clark stiffened and held her close as the ground shook all around them. Chloe squeezed her eyes shut and curled up defensively into his chest, clinging to him tightly.
Whatever it was appeared to have passed. Chloe cracked one eye open, then the other.
And stared.
“What the hell?” she whispered.
Clark opened his eyes, and his jaw dropped at the scene that greeted them. All the previously crumbling columns now stood erect and complete, and there were oil lamps burning brightly all through the fully built temple.
“This is insane,” he said shakily. Chloe held tight to his hand as they slowly walked through the temple, studying the ornate goblets of gold and the hieroglyphs carved into the walls.
“Jesus,” Clark murmured in shock. “Something tells me we’re not in Athens anymore.”
“We are,” she said shakily. “Only over three thousand years ago.”
Clark froze. “I’m sorry - what?”
She studied the markings on the wall and turned to him, her face white. “It’s 1250 BC, Clark. We’ve gone back in time!”
