As far as your allergies, it's totally possible. I'm not sure how far from home your college is, but I have a friend who went off to school a couple of hours away from home and her body got used to the different stuff there, and she ended up having allergies really bad everytime she'd come home. In her case, it was some kind of tree we have down here that she didn't have up at school, idk, but it's possible that there's something in your hometown area that your body grew 'un-used to' while you've been gone *shrugs* LOL i have no idea really :P

My school is four hours from my parents home. I really think it is the difference in trees in the area because... well I am allergic to trees and grass LMFAO@

It's just started this last weekend, and it runs every weekend until November 30th. I think one of my friends is planning to go Halloween weekend, and I might go then, but the plans were made before Hurricane Ike, so they might fall through since my friends were out of work for awhile (and one still is actually..). I've only been once before but I really want to go again :)

The allergy thing happened to me too when I moved back home from my undergrad college up to my regular house. I had no allergies at college but since being back home my allergies have been back with a vengeance.
