I did think that he was going to die and go to hell. I didn't really want it to happen but I thought it was :O and yet amazing that they did!

I think Dean might be in some sort of holding place, like maybe a sort of preparation for the real deal. Maybe that's how they become demons:they're held in one place alone for so many years and they slowly, but surely become demonic.

*lip wobbles a la Sammy*

I would've been disappointed if Kripke had allowed Dean to live. When Lilith was telling Sam that he couldn't cut a deal with her I was like PLZ NO DEAL, because like, that would've been lame. I'm glad Kripke followed through with his original plan - you know, Dean going to hell and all. It makes things more exciting!

No, I knew he would. Dying is the Winchester's hobby or something. EVERY SEASON, ONE DIES.

Season 1 - momma Winchester blows up
Season 2 - Dean almost dies, so pappa Winchester decides he wants to die first, and dies.
End of season 2 - Sam dies.
Season 3 - Dean

I wonder what will die next, seeing there aren't any Winchesters left? Maybe they found out they have a lost sister because hey papa bear is totally hot and probably needed to get laid every once in a while after his wife died.
So then they find her, and she dies!

I knew he was going to Hell/wherever he is currently at, but DYING? I didn't expect that.

Dean was definitely going to die and go to Hell, in fact I wanted him to. I mean I love him and I wanted a way to save him, but this has been dragged out all season long and for him NOT to die would've been kind of pointless. It was an inevitable deal. HOWEVER, the scenes were he's brutally shredded by the Hellhounds and then that last shot I didn't expect to be shown.

Besides, this gives great opportunity because as I keep saying, this season was prepping Sam to be on his own. Now that they're separated, for the time being since I know Dean isn't going to stay dead and Sam won't allow him to suffer for eternity, this actually gives our Sammy a chance to take up on his true destiny. I fully believe that Dean dying was the breaking point -- and we all saw that Lilith couldn't destroy Sam, and that Sam has some magnificent power hidden inside of him. If he can just tap into that I believe he will save Dean from Hell. But having Dean going to Hell was to be expected.
