[ Well shit. Did not count on this part when he wandered away from the Runaways house. Ugh, how many people in Desai have these fucked up science backgrounds? It's enough to make Victor want to renounce the field entirely- but.. that sounds a little self-depreciating. ]
[ Glances about before he discerns where and who the memory is coming from. Really not sure how to interrupt this, but people with these sort of memories need to be looked after, right? Clears his throat and calls to Tetora- ]
[Tetora does sober up a little as he watches the view before him twist to him standing on a port with a burning plane, crashed into it, in the background as he stares at a teenaged girl, Japanese, in her school uniform. He's wearing a hospital gown and carrying a gun.]
I'd say it must be pretty awesome to have a fake life like that, but I know how that kind of shit can backfire.
[There's a blip, a flash of that memory, the girl on the ground by his slightly younger self's feet. Both the image of him, and Tetora himself, suddenly leak--literally--tears from their eyes and he goes to rubbing at his face fiercely.]
[ Okay, that's freaky. Jumps half a foot when Tetora shouts and looks fast between him and the memory, at a loss for what to do or who he's even talking to. ]
H-Hey, calm down! [ Grabs Tetora's arm to try and ground the kid back in reality. ]
[ Totally lost, doesn't step back when the other boy tries to shrug him aside. Bad language towards girls and taking lord's name in vain, careful with that! ]
Hey. What he hell are you talking about-?
[ Noisemakers snap in Victor's memory of a family reunion with people he never met, who maybe never existed. Streamers drift easily between groups of smiling relatives. ]
[Tetora crouches down and winds his fingers in his hair tightly as he watches Victor's flash. He'll take the robot's fake memories any day over things that make the man in him cry. The tears are still slipping free periodically.]
[ Kneels down after him, prying his eyes from the memory to try and explain himself to the other man. Struggling for the right way to put it- nobody's really asked. ]
Confusing? I mean- I was normal a year ago.. I thought this stuff was real. [ Gestures at the memories around them- someone brought a cake! Mom can't stop bragging about her son making the honor roll again. ] And then all of a sudden I'm a cyborg and my mom's a dead liar and my dad's a robot psychopath. And I'm built to hurt people, so if I don't do everything right I'm going to grow up to be a homicidal maniac and kill my friends. And maybe that'll happen anyway and there's nothing I can do about it.
[ Doesn't feel any better to say any of that. Sighs, sets a hand on Tetora's shoulder. ]
Look.. whatever this stuff is.. It's okay to cry about it.
Doesn't have to be that way, dude. [He flops back and lands on his rear. He looks at Victor.] You're a lot more human than a lot of people who are flesh and blood. And humans are capable of a lot of shit, especially defiance.
[He viciously wipes at his face again.]
It's not me crying. Seriously. She gave me Amamiya Kazuhiko that day and told me to protect him. He thought of her as a little sister or something and is a pussy about her death. Ugh.
[ Watching Tetora, thinking that over as he stretches out a little. Not terrible advice, to be fair. Sad grin at Tetora's denials, crying like a snot nosed kid even when Victor's the younger one.
So.. if somebody you cared about died, you wouldn't cry? [ Mostly teasing, but hey, it's a real question! ]
[ uh that's freaky. But watching Tetora's reactions, it becomes pretty obvious. Yeah, you're a little liar. ]
You trying to out-robot the cyborg or something? [ Shrugs, settles back as the rain pours around them. ] Is this trying to be cool or something, I really don't get it.
[ In his memories Victor is finally near the age he is now, arguing with his mother over curfews. Clearly too freaked out by his mom's sudden hysterics, Victor stops fighting and looks lost while Marianella cries. ]
[ Glances about before he discerns where and who the memory is coming from. Really not sure how to interrupt this, but people with these sort of memories need to be looked after, right? Clears his throat and calls to Tetora- ]
Hey, you all right?

Yeah. I know nobody really means this, but I'd rather have something honest. Even if it was shitty.

[The image breaks away from a moment and Tetora looks pretty fucking relieved. He turns back around to Victor.]
The truth is what you are. Fuck, if I had the choice between a normal kid's life and being Commander Data, I'd take the robot route!

Dude, c'mon. Cyborg.. not an android or a robot.

I killed my girlfriend when I wasn't myself. I didn't cry then.
[Yes he did. Like a spanked baby. Watch him divert those eyes!]
