She hated limping. It was necessary though with the pull of flesh along her lower back. It had healed up a little more, but it was almost like she got about fifteen minutes or so of time for it to feel better, then she went back to feeling like a normal woman. Jennifer was beginning to appreciate She-Hulk for what she had a little more at those times ( ... )

The faint tune of someone more familiar than stranger reaching him through the white noise of the Chicago caused Derek to look around for the source. He straightened up and crossed the cracked pavement toward her. He was concerned after everything that had happened in such a short time.

"Jennifer, you doing all right?" She was up and moving, so that was encouraging at least.

She managed a smile as she heard someone say her name and saw Derek walking towards her. Jennifer stopped, her back and side relieved for a time that she was letting it rest. She waited until he was closer to her before she replied.

"I'm fine. Healing a little slower than I normally would, but holes are closed and that's what's important." She said, nodding a little. "How are you?"

Her eyes drifted to his belt, seeing the pocket watch there. Good, he was carrying his with him too.

"Managing." As he said that, Derek shook out the arm he had tried to play baseball player with earlier. It still felt stiffer than normal. Leave the rock hitting for Hulk Bryman, not the Agent that helped motivate him. "Keeping moving, mostly. Doesn't seem good to stay in one place too long and too much to try and do."

After a few of Pinkie Pie's cookies and a long talk with Harvey Finevoice (in which said singer did all the talking, of course), the Ninja-Style Dancer was starting to feel better. But the bleak and uncertain state of Chicago left him restless and antsy, and he couldn't afford to get out of shape now. Which was precisely why he was out in the city streets, practicing a few easy stunts on the impromptu jungle gym that was the city. He really wished he had music to do this, though. His movements always felt more natural if he had something to dance to.

He noticed the redhead pacing the street urgently. Curious and concerned, he leaped down from the fire escape he had been climbing and slinked closer to investigate.

Derek tightened his grip on the nightstick and slightly lowered his center of gravity when a new tune started to approach him instead of pass by. The curious melody probably didn't belong to a vampire; he couldn't really hear them. But as things were, Derek wasn't going to be caught unaware.

"Nice weather, huh?" Derek said to let the newcomer know that his presence was known.

The ninja paused. He did have a habit of sneaking up on people. He couldn't really answer Derek from behind him, so he just waiting a moment to see what he did; he didn't want to come off as a threat.

Nothing. Nothing that suggested that the tune belong to Chicago's more dangerous inhabitants. Derek loosened his grip, though still held the nightstick, and turned around, waiting for the other person and looking in his general direction.

Though it had been a couple hours, Pinkie Pie still hadn't given up on her mission; she continued to push her shopping cart of goodies down the empty streets, looking for anyone else who was out here. Helping the Ninja-Style Dancer find his friend had cheered her up a lot, and now she felt even more ready to help brighten people's moods!

When she saw the tall red-haired man at the other end of the block, the pony quickly stood up on her hind legs and waved her front hooves in the air in an excited greeting. It took a few seconds for her to make the cart turn, but soon she was heading for him at a brisk trot, humming a little to herself as she went.

Now that had to be the brightest tune Derek had heard in Chicago yet. Derek found himself looking at a pink pony with a mane that could rival his hair cheerfully bringing along a cart and humming a song. The Elite Beat Agent had seen a lot of strange things, but in this Chicago, part of him questioned if he had somehow nodded off and was having a weird dream. It wouldn't have been the first time.

... Well, he did talk outdoor art and planets with a dragon here. That settled it. He wasn't dreaming, though he still stood a little dumbfounded. Behind his shades, he blinked at the image before slowly raising a hand to return the wave. "... Hello," he said as the pink came closer.

"Hi!" Pinkie chirped, drawing her cart up in front of the man and beaming up at him. "I'm Pinkie Pie, and I love your hair! It's so fantabulously poofilicious, like cherry cotton candy! I mean, everypony always says my mane is poofy, and I guess it is really, but yours!"

The pony broke off to look Derek over. He looked okay, but he smelled a little like a cookie that had been left in the oven too long. "Would you like something to drink? I have - " she darted over to the cart and began rummaging through a cooler - "water, and apple juice, and...oooh, oooh! Lots of this stuff!" She held up a bottle of Sunkist for inspection; she hadn't really been sure what it was supposed to be, but it'd looked good.

That was a very fitting name for a pony that was so pink. "I'm Derek," he said. "... Not many complement me on the hair. Yours is also very... poofilicious."

With the White Rabbit's pocket watch in his pocket, the idea that he had just fallen down a rabbit hole came to mind... in which following that train of thought, meant he shouldn't eat or drink anything.

However, Derek reached over picked up a water. He probably could use the drink. "Thanks. You cater here often?"
