Characters: Clare, Open Time: Morning after everything went to hell. Location: Blackstone. Content: Home isn't very homey anymore. Formats: Poster's choice. Warnings: Clare's in a bad way.
Blondie had missed the excitement of the past day, but somehow it hadn't bothered her. Camaraderie be damned - it didn't do much good to anyone (especially to her) if she found herself dead by confronting some sort of evil sorceress. Didn't people know when they were way over their heads? The big downside of this whole thing was that she now found herself without a place to stay - the Blackstone wasn't swanky like the Hard Rock, but it had been her home for the past handful of weeks.
She finally decided to see the damage of the rest of the hotel - rumors were the lobby was trashed. Having finally obtained a decent Heckler and Koch MP5 (handguns and axes were one thing, but damn if she didn't miss a good submachine gun in her hand), she made her way throughout the hotel's long hallways. If any nasties remained, she was going to be sure to be prepared.
Movement in one of the rooms made her pause. Frowning, she nudged at the slightly ajar door with the muzzle of her gun.
Blondie's dark head appeared in the space of the open door, and she met Clare's suspicious gaze with a frown. Sighing, she lowered the submachine gun as if she were disappointed that there wasn't a monster lurking in the hotel room.
"I thought everyone left the hotel," the small girl said flatly.
Elaine had made the effort to pass through each of halls of the Blackstone to make sure no one was left behind - who knew what kind of magic was still encircling the hotel? Besides, the attack had come in the godawful hours of the morning - for all she or anyone knew, someone could have been asleep when the windows exploded and have found themselves in need of medical attention. She frowned at that; a lot of people needed more than basic first aid after the sorceress had deftly taken care of any perceivable threat against her.
Stopping at one of the doors, she heard the sounds of someone rummaging around in the room just beyond. Most of the others had moved already to the other hotels in the Loop (it wasn't as if there was much to pack in a place that wasn't home), and she would have assumed everyone in the hotel would have made a hasty exit. Not there were many safe places to stay in Chicago anymore.
Knocking firmly on the door, she quietly called, "Hello? Anyone in there?"
Elaine slipped into the room, remembering the hurried promises as something she had done when she was a teenager. She wasn't at all surprised to see the young girl scurrying about the room, gathering up various items and articles of clothing.
She stood there silently for a moment before shaking her head. "I don't think we have much a choice. All of the windows are blown out."
