Seeing an unfamiliar man in the lounge as she passed through, Kitten trotted across the room and greeted him with a friendly trill. As she was only two feet tall, Eames would have to bend over to read it, but she did have a name tag hanging from a cord around her neck.
((She will absolutely play poker with him! He just has to teach her how. She's very intelligent and a quick study.))

When she trills at him, he starts the tiniest bit, then narrows his eyes at her name tag. He cautiously reaches a hand out to lift the tag a bit so he can see, then looks at her.
I'm about to talk to the bloody creature, he thought ironically.
"So you'd be Skysong then, love?"

Curious as to what he had been doing, she stretched upward but failed to gain the altitude necessary for a view of the table. Rather than being discouraged by this stumbling block, she went to the other side of the table and clambered with some difficulty up onto the chair opposite him. Kitten leaned her neck out over the table to look at the cards with interest. She wasn't certain what the system was behind their layout, and wondered whether they had a particular meaning.

"Eames, darling, the name is Eames," he told her, leaning back so that she could get a look at the cards. They were set up in three-draw solitaire, though he'd likely have to reshuffle soon.
"...So, you can understand me then?"

He looked up, a charming smile on his face as he shook her hand.
"I'm sure I'd remember it if we had," he says. "It's lovely to meet you, Jennifer, I'm Eames." He gestures for her to sit down if she wants, already piling the cards back together.

"Are you new here then?" She asked, sipping from her drink. One leg was crossed over the other, and her fuzzy slippered foot was bobbing softly with the perpetual music of the lounge.

"I take it you aren't new, though," he observed, shuffling the cards back together with quick but elegant movements, putting on a tiny show.

She stepped inside, pushing her hair back behind her ear as she looked around. She was getting used to figuring out who was real and who wasn't, so the guy with the cards made her pause before she walked over. "I never quite got the hang of solitaire," she admitted, hands in the pockets of her jeans.

"Even the best of players is going to lose half the time," he says after a moment, flipping more cards over. "Unless, of course, you choose to cheat when no one's looking." He tosses a small smirk her way now. "Care to have a seat, love?"

It's kind of nice when it doesn't, though. Shard smiles, pulling off her jacket and draping it over the back of a nearby seat. "Don't mind if I do," she says, offering her hand. "The name's Shard, though."

He takes her hand and shakes it, taking a closer look at her for a brief moment. "Just Eames is fine," he tells her with a cheerful smile. "Interesting name, though."

Intrigued, he walked over and stopped before the man. All the card games he knew from his younger years required at least two players. "Expecting more players to join you?"
Reply
"If there are players willing to join," he says, gesturing to a seat before offering a hand. "Eames." His glass of alcohol now sits warm in his stomach, a pleasant barely-there buzz.

Well, this could be interesting. "You will have to explain the game to me; I'm afraid it's been awhile since I have played any."

"Eraqus. Unusual name," he says, shuffling the cards back together. "Have you ever played poker before then, or will this just be a refresher course?"

However, halfway through the lobby, she paused. Turned. And approached the man sitting at the table, making sure to let her boots squelch to announce her presence. After attempting (mostly unsuccessfully) to clean it on her breeches, Kel extended her hand. "Keladry of Mindelan, pleasure to meet you. Did you just arrive?"
Reply
"I did, Keladry. The name is Eames, dnd not that I'm not most flattered, but shouldn't you be more worried about getting dry and warming up than greeting me?"
Reply
"I think I'll go dry off. Would you like somebody to play cards with afterwards? I promise I won't count cards like my friend Neal does."
Reply
"I'd be delighted to play a game of cards with you. And I promise I won't count the cards either," He winks at her, filing the name "Neal" away as someone to investigate.
