He made his way into the building, returning the receptionist's greeting even though she sounded just as blank as the other "natives" he'd talked to. He listened through the radio static - because that's what it was, pure and simple, static obscuring the tunes of people who might otherwise be vibrant and alive - to pick up Mitsukake's tune and followed it down a hall. He headed into the right room, nodded to Mitsukake, and flashed a grin at the attendant. "Hi," he greeted her, as though all this were perfectly normal and her tune wasn't filtered through that same eerie static. "Just here to pick up my friend."

Mitsukake was filling in the last few characters of another list when he heard her trail off, and quickly (and calmly, not that he lacked practice keeping a level head) filled in the rest. Or at least what he remembered about what the rest was supposed to be. "The other office, yes. And right on time too; I'm sure I've kept you from your work long enough. Thank you for all your help, ma'm."
He managed a faint smile when he said it and it was genuine - miles and miles from anything like sarcasm - because he didn't find it particularly funny that she was the only one in the room who didn't realize she had absolutely no other patients to look after. Hastily scrabbling out the last word, he rolled up the note and slipped it into a pill bottle and then slipped that into one of the two bags in a nearby empty seat. He hadn't been kidding when he said he'd been doing his level best to talk them out of extra supplies, and thank Suzaku something had turned out as it should today ( ... )

He picked up one of the bags of supplies, noticing it took Mitsukake a bit to rise. "Hey, are you doin' alright?"
