Elaine had dropped Clare off at the Blackstone Hotel, fully confident that Harry's old mentor would take care of any threats, veiled or obvious, that would try to harm any of the group. She was unsure about the vampire though, although she had seen him take off somewhere with Karrin Murphy. She figured the officer could keep him in line.

She had set out to figure this city out after confirming with Harry that he had no idea what was going on either. She had decided to stay mostly in the downtown area - after all, the crowds (or what could have passed for crowds) were there. It only took her a half-hour to realize that no one was the wiser about the strange events taking place just along the lake.

She sighed, rounding a corner onto an empty street. This made no sense, and she wasn't liking the complete and utter lack of answers. Drumming her fingers on her purse as it bounced against her thigh, she caught sight of a dark-haired woman standing further down the sidewalk. Elaine recognized her - she was one of the people in the group at ( ... )

Ziva heard the voice behind her, and had to automatically stop herself from reaching for a weapon. Habits died hard, and she didn't want to make enemies as soon as she arrived in this town. She turned to look over her shoulder before fully turning around...another ingrained reaction.

She needed to stop that, sometime.

"Hello." She said. The woman looked familiar, she had probably seen her face at that weird sculpture that everyone had arrived near.

Elaine held up her hands immediately to show that she didn't hold a weapon, just in case. Not that a wizard really needed a weapon to be dangerous, but she thought it to be a peaceful gesture, regardless.

"Getting a feel of the city?" she asked, approaching the other woman, still keeping a sharp eye on the buildings and streets surrounding them.

Ziva relaxed when she saw the gesture. "As much as I can, considering the foggy barrier blocking out some of it." She really didn't know much about the city, so if most, or half, or whatever amount of the city was blocked by the fog, she really didn't know.

"Are you from around here?" She asked, wondering if this woman knew more about the city than she did at this point.

One of the perks to Chicago being so empty was that Thomas could drive down the street at perilously unsafe speeds without having something big and ugly chasing his car. Unfortunately, this particular street just happened to have a woman standing in the middle of it. Supernatural reflexes were all well and good, but physics was still physics, and the Hummer's breaks squealed loudly as he brought the car to a stop a few yards from the woman.

"Any particular reason you're standing in the middle of the road?" he asked, amused, as he stuck his head out the window of the white Hummer.

Ziva noticed the car coming. But she didn't move. She knew that the car could stop in time, just like the semi had a few months before. Amazing what people could accomplish if they really wanted to. When it came to a stop she raised an eye brow at the driver as he stuck his head out the window.

"Because I can." Was all she said. Attractive. She thought as she actually got a look at the driver.

'DAVID! This is not the time.' Strange, her conscience sounded a lot like Gibbs...but, she would listen, for now.

The woman's matter-of-fact answer made Thomas smirk, and he shifted the car into park. The fact that she'd noticed him at all made him suspect she was fully real, unlike the ghostly shells of people who wandered around the city. He watched her, frankly curious, as he opened the door and swung out of the car.

The Desert Eagle hidden by his shirt was a familiar weight at the small of his back, just in case his senses fooled him and the woman was some supernatural threat. Leaning against the car with a casual, loose-limbed grace, he asked, "And do you always do things that other people would think are crazy just because you can?"

"Normally? No." She wandered over and leaned against the front of the car. "When I find myself in a strange empty city? Possibly." She sighed and looked around again, there weren't many people around.

"Besides, if a semi truck can stop before hitting me in the same sort of manner, I am sure your car can do the same. Besides," she was examining her nails at this point. "I could have moved at any time. I would have been out of the way if I felt you were going to hit me."
