before i went to israel and palestine in 2005 i always thought the palestinian community were being persecuted by israelis, something which seemed incongrous given the holocost etc. why did the israeli govt attack palestians so much

From what i have read of the history of Zionism and the state of israel, I wonder if Israel really has a right to exist in the first place. Maybe it's time for it to be dismantled and the experiment to be ended?

I fear Israel has no justification at all.

Hammas terrorists are responsible here, the government of the state they are attacking has no actual control over them. Sorry.... thats the way it is. Even Israel doesnt believe the Hammas section of government could intervene....

Israel are not conducting operations against terrorists they are indiscriminately bombing civilian targets using the excuse of defence. Furthermore there is considerable evidence of endemic racist practices by Israely soldiers and of breaches of International conventions regarding warfare.

If you want a metaphor its would be the same as us in the 80's deciding to carpet bomb dublin because some of the IRA might be hiding there. Undoubtedly we would have hit some terrorists but it would not have justified the action.

That action would have been utterly repugnant and immoral, its no differnt in Israel.
