I shove the last bit of breakfast sandwich into my mouth as I head to check on my patient. I'm scaled back on the drugs, so she's much more lucid and able to deliver the daily verbal abuse. I don't mind, really. At least she still has some fire in her ( Read more... )

Wow, where did that come from? He knows how much I've been here lately with his patient. And last I checked, he wasn't the one paying me. Prick.

"I'm sorry, Dr. Karev. Avery had to pick me up." Lie. "And there was unexpected traffic from construction." Another lie. But I don't think being tired is a good enough excuse.
