Everyone is talking about the new trauma surgeon so when I get paged for a consult it's my chance to check him out. He's a friend of King's so I'm not so sure we'll get along. I've also heard some funny rumors about him and Addison but I'm sure that's just the nurses' over active imaginations at play

"I did," I answer, too busy for formalities, "I have a 26 year old with cardiac tamponade from an MVA, chest tube is already in place but he needs a pericardiocentesis and the ER nurses tend to freak out when I ask them for the equipment to do it myself."

"They wouldn't be expecting you to try and perform the pericardiocentesis," I tell him as I quickly as a nurse for the appropriate equipment and head over to the patient's room. I don't even have time to dwell on how rude and arrogant this man is.

"I'm a trauma surgeon. I do everything," I answer, glancing up at him. He's a little on the smug side.

"Yes, but we have a certain way of doing things here and with a patient like this, the trauma surgeon pages for a cardio consult, that's what everyone expects," I reply as the nurse comes in and hands me the equipment.
