I've been mentally running over my cheers when the curtain is pulled back, and I look up, droping my hands onto my lap. "Are you really a doctor? Cause you look exactly like my friend Jamie on my squad and she's definitely not old enough to be a doctor."
"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. When I get nervous, I talk a lot. I think it's just a cut, but we have a competition coming up soon. Do you think I'll be able to cheer?"
I sit at the foot of her bed to prepare to suture it and lay a drape across it, "You'll have to stay off of it for ten to fourteen days. You will not be able to cheer before that or you can rip out the sutures."
